Super Junior member's sister recounts horrific accident

In 2007, Super Junior members had a terrible accident, Leeteuk had to get 150 stitches all over his body.

Kyuhyun (Suju) is the member who is near death. The hospital informed him that his chance of survival is only about 20%.

However, a miracle happened. More than three months after the tragic accident, the male singer was discharged from the hospital to the welcoming arms of fans.

According to Allkpop, in the recent program Walking into Frenzy (KBS2), Jo Ara - Kyuhyun's older sister shared for the first time about her brother's tragic accident.

"At the time of Kyuhyun's accident, I was studying abroad. I had no money in my pocket so I couldn't buy a plane ticket back to Korea. I could only look online for news in despair. Every day I prayed to God to save my brother.

To me, Kyuhyun's life is priceless. He was the youngest member to miraculously survive the accident that year. To me, everything Kyuhyun said and everything about him was wonderful and precious," Jo Ara emotionally recounted.

Kyuhyun's sister choked up as she recalled memories of her brother's accident.

The tragic accident happened on April 19, 2007, when the band returned to the studio. The car carrying the members suddenly had a tire blowout and overturned on the highway.

While Eunhyuk and Shindong were not seriously injured, Leeteuk suffered a head injury, and Kyuhyun was thrown out of the car about 20-30m away.

"I was thrown out of the car right after it crashed. When I came out of the shock, I found myself lying on the road and felt like my body was broken. I thought I was going to die and started praying. The accident left me in a coma for four days and in the hospital for five months," Kyuhyun once shared about the accident.

The accident broke all of his ribs and punctured his lung. Doctors recommended surgery by inserting a tube through the K-pop star's throat, a potentially risky procedure that could damage Kyuhyun's vocal cords.

But at that time, Kyuhyun's father told the doctor: "My son is a singer and taking away his voice means taking away his dream. I can't do that to him."

Thanks to the father's plea, the doctor performed a different surgery and saved Kyuhyun's life while still keeping his natural singing voice.

More than 3 months after the tragic accident, Kyuhyun was discharged from the hospital, he said he was able to "live a second life".

However, every time he overworks or the weather is unstable, Kyuhyun still feels pain and is quite weak due to the after-effects of the accident.

Last March, Super Junior returned to Vietnam with a performance called Super Junior World tour - Super show 9: Road in Ho Chi Minh, part of the group's world concert series.

The concert lasted more than 3 hours. Thousands of audiences relived Super Junior's 18-year journey of development with a series of songs they knew by heart such as: "Mr. Simple", "Sorry Sorry", "Miracle", "Lo Siento", "Mamacita", "Black Suit"...

Super Junior consists of 13 members and started their activities in 2005 and is under the management of the largest entertainment group in Korea, SM Entertainment. The group's first single, Twins, was released in November 2006.

Of the group's 12 members, Han Geng is the only non-Korean member. He was selected from 3,000 candidates across China in 2001.

In addition to singing, Super Junior members also attack cinema, catwalk and host talk shows and game shows.

After 18 years of activity, the group still regularly releases new products. Super Junior still appears on many charts, they are still loved by the fan community.

Currently, the most stable number of active members is just under 10 people, including Leeteuk, Eunhyuk, Donghae, Siwon, Shindong, Ryeowook, Yesung, Heechul and Kyuhyun.
