Prime Minister urges early solutions to effectively manage the gold market

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just signed and issued Directive No. 06 on urging the implementation of key tasks after the Tet holiday.

Regarding the gold market, the Prime Minister's Directive clearly states: "Urgently summarize Decree No. 24/2012/ND-CP on the management of gold trading activities. At the same time, propose solutions to effectively manage the gold market in the new situation, to be completed in the first quarter of 2024". (See more)

Prime Minister: Strictly prohibit negativity and corruption in electricity production and trading

On February 14, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh issued a Directive on ensuring electricity supply, coal and gas supply for electricity production in the coming time.

State Bank requires boosting credit at the beginning of the year

The State Bank has just requested credit institutions to promote credit growth solutions from the first months of 2024 according to the tasks and solutions set forth by the Governor of the State Bank in Directive No. 01/CT-NHNN dated January 15, 2024 to contribute to promoting economic growth.

Accordingly, credit institutions need to resolutely implement appropriate and targeted credit growth solutions right from the beginning of the year, promptly meet the economy's credit capital needs, direct credit to production and business sectors, priority sectors and economic growth drivers according to the policies of the Government and the Prime Minister; strictly control credit for sectors with potential risks, ensuring safe and effective credit activities.

Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment presents 4 specific methods for land valuation

The draft Decree on land prices is being consulted by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, specifically regulating the procedures and contents of determining land prices according to four methods including comparison, income, surplus, and land price adjustment coefficient.

Information on land prices, land rental prices, and premises rental prices for applying the comparison and surplus methods and establishing land price adjustment coefficients is information within a period of no more than 24 months from the time of land valuation and before, collected in the national land database, the national price database, or from other sources. Many provinces and cities welcome a huge number of international visitors during Tet

According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, during the Lunar New Year holiday from February 8-14, the tourism industry nationwide is expected to welcome and serve 10.5 million domestic visitors (up 16.6% over the same period). This occasion also recorded a high number of international visitors to many localities.

Notably, during the 7 days of Lunar New Year, Phu Quoc is estimated to welcome 52,000 international visitors, an increase of nearly 6 times compared to the same period last year. Thanks to that, Kien Giang is estimated to achieve 1,122 billion VND in revenue from tourism. (See more)

Domestic airfare ceiling increase from March 1

According to Circular 34/2023/TT-BGTVT of the Ministry of Transport effective from March 1 on amending and supplementing a number of articles of Circular No. 17/2019/TT-BGTVT promulgating the price frame for passenger transport services on domestic flights, from March 1, the ceiling price for domestic airfares will increase.

Specifically, according to Tin Tuc Newspaper, the Circular amends the price framework for basic economy class passenger transport services. Flights with a distance of less than 500 km have a ceiling price of VND 1,600,000/ticket/way for socio-economic development flights and VND 1,700,000/ticket/way for other flights. The remaining flight groups are subject to a price increase of VND 50,000-250,000/ticket/way compared to the old regulations, depending on the length of each flight.

Flights from 500 km to under 850 km have a ceiling price of VND 2,250,000/ticket/way (old price was VND 2,200,000/ticket/way); flights from 850 km to under 1,000 km have a maximum ticket price of VND 2,890,000/ticket/way (old price was VND 2,790,000/ticket/way); flights from 1,000 km to under 1,280 km have a ceiling price of VND 3,400,000/ticket/way (old price was VND 3,200,000/ticket/way) and flights from 1,280 km or more are VND 4,000,000/ticket/way (old price was VND 3,750,000/ticket/way).

Airlines serve nearly 1.3 million passengers during Lunar New Year

There were 1.3 million passengers passing through airports nationwide during the 7-day Lunar New Year holiday. According to VTV, passenger transport volume during this year's Tet holiday increased by 9.6% compared to the same period last year. The number of international passengers during this Tet holiday reached more than 630,000, an increase of nearly 49%. Meanwhile, the number of domestic passengers decreased by about 13% compared to last year.

To serve the travel needs after Tet, the aviation industry will continue to maintain and ensure adequate arrangements of vehicles and personnel to ensure service quality and minimize flight delays and cancellations.

No shortage of goods, price fever after Lunar New Year

In previous years, according to VTV, after Tet, there was often a price increase for some essential goods, especially food, or a shortage of certain items such as fresh fruits and vegetables. However, this year, the market has been different with stable prices and abundant supply.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade assessed that the supply of goods for Tet is guaranteed, with no shortages or price hikes.

Vegetables, tubers, and fruits such as water spinach, celery, and Malabar spinach, which in previous years often increased after Tet, remained stable this year. Familiar foods such as meat and fish saw a slight increase in some items such as ribs, cartilage, and pork belly, up 20,000 VND/kg. Fish prices increased slightly from 5,000-10,000 VND/kg at traditional markets, while prices in supermarkets remained stable until after Tet.
