30 years ago, Ms. Chuyen's family started raising livestock on a farm scale. At that time, no one in the commune raised livestock in a market-oriented manner, so many people were unfamiliar with this model. On an area of 1.8 sao, the couple set up a hamlet, built a barn, and raised chickens for meat. By 2000, realizing that livestock farming had a lot of potential, Ms. Chuyen used all her savings and borrowed more from banks and friends to expand the scale of her livestock farming to 3,000-5,000 chickens/batch. Her family also raised pigs for meat to increase income and take advantage of labor and food resources... However, when expanding the scale of her livestock farming, her experience was limited, so the chickens and pigs often got sick, leading to low efficiency, and many batches lost capital.
Not discouraged, Ms. Chuyen learned from previous households about livestock farming experiences as well as attended training courses to learn more. Thanks to that, her knowledge about livestock farming increased significantly. She no longer raises pigs but only focuses on raising chickens. She re-planned and expanded the barn to 4,000 m2 , actively applied technical measures, used biological bedding, cleaned the barn, vaccinated regularly and followed the principle of letting the barn "rest"... Thanks to that, the chickens grew healthily and no longer got sick. Every year, she sells 2 batches of chickens, each batch of about 20,000 chickens.
Along with raising chickens, she also opened a service to provide animal feed to households in the area with a quantity of about 300 tons/month. Ms. Chuyen's family earns over 500 million VND in profit each year, creating regular jobs for 4-6 workers with an income of about 10 million VND/person/month.
Not only developing the family economy, Ms. Chuyen and other households in need established a chicken raising cooperative to share experiences in raising chickens and the consumption market. She also helps poor households in the commune and actively participates in local work.
Chairwoman of Tan Viet Commune Farmers' Association Thai Thi Duy Linh said: "Ms. Chuyen not only does business effectively but is also a pioneer in social activities. Currently, Ms. Chuyen's model is recognized as a good production and business household at the provincial level and is being proposed as a good production and business household at the central level."
