Many people say they are forced to take sides at work for a variety of reasons. But being divided into factions at work can also be exhausting.

The main purpose of dividing into factions is to make the 8 hours at work less boring, but it leads to many effects on work.
"Pain" of choosing the wrong side
Ms. Thu Dung (24 years old), an office worker at a company in Da Nang City, said that on her first day at work, she asked a woman sitting next to her to show her a few things she was not good at. The two women chatted happily with each other. After being close for more than a week, she realized that this person was the "leader" of a group of 5 women and Ms. Dung naturally became the 6th person in this group. In the company, there is also a group of women who are the "opposition faction".
Not only do they chat together in group chats, during breaks, they also make appointments to hunt for sales, discuss dramas in the company... Not only internal to the department, the topics discussed in the group are also related to other departments, even stories from the factory are heard and discussed.
"After 1 year of working, I realized that I had chosen the wrong side when the team leader was not sharp enough, not vocal enough, so he had no influence with the boss. But what should I do, because now I cannot join the opposite side, if I leave the side I will be helpless", Ms. Dung shared.
Ms. Thai Ha (27 years old) is an employee of a large company. Her office has 300 men but only 8 women, and these women are still divided into 2 factions. Ms. Ha explains that when you are dissatisfied with someone, you tend to find someone else to confide in. If they have the same views, aspirations, and opinions, you will hang out with them. If they do not, you will hate them, find someone else, and so on, forming a faction.
"When you don't choose a side, you force yourself to be strong and well-rounded to confidently handle all tasks. But everyone has weaknesses, so you must choose to play with the same group to support each other in work. When a side is formed in the company, new employees are forced to choose a side," said Ms. Ha.
According to Ms. Ha, the purpose of dividing into factions in the company is to gossip to relieve the boredom of 8 hours a day in the office. Therefore, after a long time, even if you are good at your job, you still want to have a faction, because if you don't choose a faction, you will feel lost.
Choosing a side must be based on the most important factor of sharing the same viewpoint and thinking. But many times she did not share the same viewpoint as the group members, but still followed them because they were "in the same boat".

When you don't choose a side
Many people think that dividing women into factions at work is like choosing a group of friends to hang out with in school, but in reality, this affects psychology, objectivity at work, and sometimes the company itself is affected.
In companies that pay salaries and bonuses based on ability, factionalism becomes even more intense, as the meaning of factionalism goes beyond "spirit" to competition for benefits. While most men choose "independence" and "living together", many women admit that they want to choose their own faction in the workplace.
Ms. Nhat Tuyen (29 years old, Ho Chi Minh City) said that in her company, most of the employees are female, divided into 5 factions and often compete and gossip about each other. Not wanting to get caught up in negative emotions, she did not choose a side.
But because she was not on any side, her colleagues always looked at her as a "spy", wary and almost isolated. "I was afraid to go to the company for that reason, so I often found a coffee shop or worked at home, only going to the company when necessary," said Ms. Tuyen.
Tired of Factions
Mr. N., a department head of a company in Ho Chi Minh City, said: "The company has many factions of women, just arguing about trivial matters, but internal conflicts often occur. There are jobs that cannot be agreed upon because neither side is willing to give in. It takes me a lot of time to deal with such trivial matters."
