Each kilogram of Chilean cherries imported to Vietnam is being sold at supermarkets belonging to Saigon Co.op for only 199,000 VND/kg, the cheapest on the market.

From January 14th to 28th, the retail outlets of the Ho Chi Minh City Commercial Cooperative Union (Saigon Co.op), including Co.opmart, Co.opXtra, Co.op Food, and Finelife…, will be holding a festival featuring officially imported cherries from the Republic of Chile.
According to Tuoi Tre Online 's observations at Co.opmart Huynh Tan Phat (District 7), the bright red, plump cherries are displayed in eye-catching locations, easily attracting the attention of consumers.
Spending nearly 15 minutes choosing cherries at Co.opmart Huynh Tan Phat, Ms. Tam Anh (resident of District 7) excitedly shared: "It's rare to see fresh cherries with green stems at such a low price. Previously, eating cherries meant you had to be rich, as they usually cost 400,000 - 500,000 VND/kg."
Ms. Anh also mentioned that last week she bought 2kg of cherries from an acquaintance selling online for over 200,000 VND/kg, but the cherries were very small, substandard, and not as fresh or high-quality as those sold in supermarkets. "I will choose about 5kg to give as gifts to relatives during Tet," she added.

According to a representative from Saigon Co.op, before reaching consumers, Chilean cherries undergo rigorous quality checks at Co.opmart, Co.opXtra, and other retail stores: from legal documentation and product quality records to origin certificates and quality control at the central distribution warehouse and at each point of sale.
To meet the diverse needs of customers, the supermarket packages cherries in various weights, from 300g to 2.5kg and 5kg. In addition, the supermarket also displays loose cherries, allowing customers to choose according to their preferences.
Currently, Saigon Co.op is selling 100 tons of Chilean cherries at a discounted price of 199,000 VND/kg, 20-30% lower than the market price. This is an exclusive price applied throughout the program. On the first day of launch, statistics show that more than 20 tons of cherries were sold.

Present at Co.opmart Huynh Tan Phat on the first day of the Chilean cherry festival, Mr. Pablo Arancibia Salazar - Commercial Counselor of the Chilean Embassy - shared that in recent years, as living standards have improved, Vietnamese people have increasingly favored imported, nutritious products.
"Therefore, cooperating with Saigon Co.op - Vietnam's leading consumer goods retailer - to trade Chilean agricultural products is a great opportunity to promote the brand and increase commercial value," said the Commercial Attaché of the Chilean Embassy.

Mr. Vo Tran Ngoc, Business Director of Saigon Co.op, emphasized: "Saigon Co.op is always committed to providing the best quality products with clear origins. We regularly cooperate with trade attaché offices in Vietnam to act as a bridge for trade, not only to find quality imported goods but also to expand opportunities for exporting Vietnamese goods abroad."
"Today's Chilean Cherry Festival is one of the activities in this plan. Following today's event, Saigon Co.op will also have a detailed meeting with the Chilean side to promote the continued organization of activities to introduce products from both countries to consumers in Chile and Vietnam," Mr. Ngoc shared.
