A home believed to be owned by Hollywood actors Leighton Meester and Adam Brody, and another owned by actor Billy Crystal, are among more than 1,000 homes destroyed by wildfires raging across Los Angeles, including a fire that broke out in the Hollywood Hills on January 8.

Jamie Lee Curtis, Mandy Moore, Maria Shriver and other celebrities are among more than 100,000 people forced to evacuate their homes to escape out-of-control fires burning through some of Los Angeles' most desirable neighborhoods.

The largest fire burned nearly 12,000 acres in Pacific Palisades, a neighborhood between the beach towns of Santa Monica and Malibu that is home to many movie, television and music stars.

Brody, best known for his roles in the television series "The O.C." and "Nobody Wants This," and Meester, who starred in "Gossip Girl," purchased their Pacific Palisades home in 2019 for $6.5 million, according to real estate and entertainment websites.

Crystal and his wife, Janice, said in a statement that they have lived in the Pacific Palisades home since 1979.

"Of course we are heartbroken, but with the love of our children and friends, we will get through this," the couple said.

Shriver, a journalist and former "first lady" of California when she was married to former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, described the catastrophic devastation in this luxury housing complex.

"Everything is gone. Our neighborhood, our restaurants. The firefighters are doing their best, but this fire is huge and out of control," Shriver wrote on social media X.

A day after actor James Woods evacuated his Pacific Palisades home, he said "every house around us was on fire."

“We were literally right at the epicenter of the fire when it started,” said Woods, known for his roles in “Ghosts of Mississippi” and “Any Given Sunday.”

"There was so much chaos. It was like hell," the actor shared.

With an average home price of around $4.5 million, Pacific Palisades is home to some of America's most famous people.

Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis said "my community and possibly my home are on fire."

"This is a horrible situation," Curtis wrote on Instagram.

Mandy Moore, known for her role on the television series "This is Us," said she and her family had to evacuate because of the nearby fire.

"So saddened by the devastation and loss. Don't know if my house can handle it," she wrote on Instagram.

Paris Hilton's Malibu mansion, reportedly purchased for $8.4 million, was also among the homes destroyed.

Hilton said she was "heartbroken beyond words".

"Sitting with my family, watching the news and watching our house in Malibu burn down on live television is something no one should have to go through," Hilton wrote on X.

Several other fires are burning across the city. Filming permits have been revoked in Pasadena and other areas of East Los Angeles at the request of fire officials, according to licensing organization FilmLA.

Production on TV shows including "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and "Grey's Anatomy" was halted on Jan. 8. Several movie premieres have also been canceled.

Actor Mark Hamill, known for playing Luke Skywalker in the "Star Wars" series, said the fire was "the worst disaster" since 1993.
