A 5-storey house used as a welding machine distribution supermarket located on Le Duc Anh Street, Ba Diem Commune, Hoc Mon District, Ho Chi Minh City caught fire, causing severe damage to many properties.
At around 6am this morning (January 20), a red fire broke out with a column of black smoke engulfing a 5-story house on Le Duc Anh Street (old National Highway 1).
This house is a supermarket specializing in distributing welding machines, accessories, welding components... covering hundreds of square meters. The fire spread quickly and burned fiercely.
Locals said that at the time of the fire, the supermarket was not open. Many people shouted and brought mini fire extinguishers to help put out the fire but were unsuccessful.
Hoc Mon District Police and 4 fire trucks were dispatched to the scene.
Police had to break the supermarket's rolling door and then split into many teams to spray water cannons to put out the fire.
Because the fire occurred during rush hour, the location on the main artery of the gateway to Ho Chi Minh City caused traffic through the area to be obstructed.
After more than 30 minutes, firefighters controlled the fire.
At the scene, many machines and equipment inside the supermarket were severely damaged.
The cause and damage of the fire are currently being investigated by authorities.
