When commune officials and residents arrived at the scene, the fire was already burning high. The People's Committee of the commune mobilized forces to be present at the scene using on-site equipment to put out the fire such as: fire extinguishers, water hoses, buckets, basins... while waiting for the fire department to arrive.
At 10:30, firefighters arrived at the scene and took action, and by 11:30 the fire was completely extinguished.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Vinh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Xuan Lung Commune, said the fire did not cause any human casualties but the main pagoda was seriously damaged. This is extremely regrettable.
Specifically, the Tam Bao Palace, 27 Buddha statues and other facilities in the pagoda were completely damaged. The national treasure, the lotus stone pedestal, had its lotus petals broken. The estimated damage was about 25 billion VND.
