The young officer from Thai Nguyen graduated with honors in his bachelor's and master's degrees from top Russian universities with a GPA of 4.9-4.95/5.
Challenging journey in the land of Aries
Nguyen Nhu Quang (born in 1998, from Dai Tu district, Thai Nguyen province) has nurtured a love for the green army uniform since childhood, determined to become an officer of the Vietnam People's Army to contribute to the cause of protecting the Fatherland.
"I want to contribute to reducing the economic burden on my family, and at the same time promote my passion for science and technology," the young man shared about the reason for choosing the school.

Although his family does not have a military tradition, Quang always receives encouragement from his relatives. “My parents always stand behind me and support me in every decision I make. The support of my family is a solid foundation that helps me overcome all difficulties,” Quang shared.
Not disappointing expectations, the young man from Thai Nguyen passed the entrance exam to the Military Technical Academy with an impressive score of 27.35. Thanks to his high university entrance exam score, Quang was chosen to study abroad. After a year of studying foreign languages at school, Quang received a scholarship from Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University.
However, while studying in Russia, Quang faced a language barrier. “The pressure of communication, studying in a completely new environment and homesickness made me feel sad and discouraged. But I overcame it step by step,” Quang shared.

The challenging 5-year journey in the land of the White Birch ended with a sweet result. The young man graduated with a GPA of 4.9/5, and was the only foreign student of the Institute of Computer Science and Technology to graduate with honors.
After that, Quang was sent by the school to study for a master's degree at ITMO University, majoring in Computer Engineering. Here, the officer continued to make his mark by completing his master's thesis with excellent results, being among the students with the highest scores in the school with a GPA of 4.95/5.
Quang is also the only master's student of the department to win the “Everest ITMO Science” competition for the best graduation thesis of the school.
The secret of success
Quang emphasized that the soldier's diligence, self-discipline and iron-clad spirit are the keys to all success.
“Discipline is strength. It helps me maintain my determination and spirit to overcome all challenges. At the end of the week, I usually make a specific plan for the coming week, including tasks that need to be completed, lab deadlines, and exam schedules. This helps me proactively work ahead of time and not be surprised by unexpected tasks,” Quang affirmed.

“There are days when I work hard in the lab from early morning until 9-10pm before going home. Sometimes, I spend more time in the lab than at home. In return, I get to do what I am passionate about and work with wonderful people,” Quang added.
In addition, Quang also participated in many scientific conferences, published many articles at school level and published internationally.
To young people, especially those who want to wear the uniform of a soldier, Quang shared: “Set your goals early and be determined to achieve them. Don’t let your years of study slip away in vain in having fun or simply passing the subjects and getting a degree. Don’t let yourself graduate, holding a university degree in your hand but not knowing what you want to do or what field you want to specialize in.”
Lieutenant Nguyen Nhu Quang is currently attending a political-military training course at the Army Officer School 1 before being assigned to work. The male student hopes to be assigned to the position he wishes to be able to contribute to the best of his ability.
“We can’t choose where we were born, but we can choose how we live. This motto has become a compass that helps me overcome all challenges,” said Nhu Quang.
