During 4 years of college, the guy took care of his girlfriend from her tuition fees to her personal interests.
"You just go to school, I will take care of you."
Nguyen Thi Khanh Chau (born in 1999, from An Giang) and Thai Huu Tai (born in 1999, from Soc Trang) have been together for 10 years.
For them, it was 10 precious years, helping them find the love and soulmate of their life. It was also 10 years, the couple together overcame bitterness and sweetness, to have the happy ending as it is now.
Chau and Tai have been together for 10 years.
Chau and Tai were both born and raised in Ho Chi Minh City, and attended the same high school. The couple often hung out together, gradually developing feelings for each other and starting to get to know each other. Even though they were still “young people”, they were still very serious.
Student love doesn't have expensive gifts, nor fancy dates. Their love is simply holding hands while walking in the schoolyard, stopping by snack shops together...
After graduating from high school, because his family's finances did not allow it, Chau thought he would have to drop out of school and go to work far away. Seeing that his girlfriend was a good student but was about to lose her chance to study, Tai made a bold decision.
“He told me, ‘Don’t worry about studying, I will try to take care of you so your parents don’t have to worry about money.’ Then he told my mom the same thing,” Chau said.
Thanks to that saying, Chau confidently pursued her education. Both of them passed the entrance exam to Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology. Chau majored in English Language, while Tai majored in Business Administration.
During his 4 years as a student, Tai studied and worked at the same time. He worked as a shipper for a food delivery company, earning money to pay for tuition and living expenses for himself and his girlfriend.
"She chose the shipper job because she saw that the income was quite good, and the hours were flexible, allowing her to study and work at the same time, and she could pick me up and drop me off at school," Chau said.
Tai is willing to work as a shipper to earn money to support his girlfriend's education.
Tai worked hard to earn money. There were times when he worked day and night to earn extra income. Every morning, he drove his girlfriend to school, then went to class himself. On his days off, he delivered goods.
Every day at 5pm, he picks up his girlfriend and goes home, then continues delivering goods until late at night.
During those 4 years, Chau received financial support from Tai to pay her tuition, some semesters costing up to 20 million VND. Occasionally, her mother would pool money to pay for her daughter's tuition, while Tai took care of the rest.
In addition, he also gives his girlfriend money for snacks, living expenses and a few other things. Because they both live with their families in Ho Chi Minh City, they save on rent.
“She didn’t want me to work part-time, she just wanted me to focus on studying. She didn’t spend anything on herself, she just wanted to take care of me. She really tried very hard to take care of me all these years. I’m so grateful,” Chau said.
Not only that, Chau is also pampered like a baby by her boyfriend.
She liked to eat baked egg tarts, so Tai immediately bought 10 boxes and brought them to her house. She liked flowers from a certain shop, so he immediately remembered and bought her the right kind. As long as it was something she liked, he would definitely buy it to her liking to please her.
“Tai is a difficult person to love, maybe I am the first person to bring special feelings to him so he pampers me. He is the only son in the family, his parents always love and respect him so they also support his love.
Moreover, I see that Tai's father also loves and cares for his mother so I think he learned this from his family," Chau shared.
Make up for your boyfriend's hard years
After graduating, Chau pursued a career in education. She was an English teacher and opened a training center for students. On the other hand, Tai was quite uncertain about the profession, so he later took a video editing course. He now has a stable job.
When she had a stable job, Chau made up for Tai.
Previously, Tai always said that Chau's academic performance was better so she should continue to study, and he would sacrifice his study time to work and earn money.
Later, when her job developed and she had a good income, Chau made up for her boyfriend's hard years.
She is willing to invest in machinery and filming equipment for Tai to study and work. In the near future, she plans to buy a new computer system for her boyfriend to make work more convenient.
Since having a stable income, whatever Tai needs, Chau can give. She laughed and said: "I buy so many things for him that on special occasions, I don't know what to give him anymore."
Tai's dream was to set foot in Singapore and at the beginning of the year, Chau made that dream come true. The two of them went on a long trip to Thailand - Singapore, the total cost was about 50 million VND, Chau paid for it all.
Currently, the couple has moved in together. They rented a 3-storey house and welcomed Chau's mother to live with them.
Their love is strong and close.
There were times when things didn't go well in their life together, but they resolved them peacefully.
After 10 years of being together, going through difficult and deprived times together, for them, petty arguments are not worth pushing to a climax, causing their feelings to be damaged. The secret to maintaining such a positive relationship is mutual respect.
“I respect your job as a shipper, and you respect my efforts to study. It’s still the same now. You respect me because I’m independent, and I respect you because you took care of me wholeheartedly during the years when I was penniless despite my late career,” Chau confided.
Mrs. Bui Thi Huong (64 years old) - Khanh Chau's mother said that Tai was not only a relative but also like "a benefactor" of the family. When her eldest daughter was preparing to enter university, the family's economy was difficult, Mrs. Huong thought she would have to let her daughter interrupt her studies.
However, Tai came to meet, confide in and ask for permission from Mrs. Huong to take care of Khanh Chau. "During Chau's 4 years of studying, I only had to pay for part of her tuition, the rest and all of her living expenses were supported by Tai. Until now, I always tell Chau that Tai is a benefactor of my family," Mrs. Huong said.
