Medical student: Trying 200% to not fall behind

Unlike the 'bookworm' image often associated with medical students, Ha Vu Hoang attracts attention with his dynamism, 'multitasking', and colorfulness, not inferior to students in other fields.

To be able to wear a white coat, Ha Vu Hoang (22 years old, 5th year student, Hanoi Medical University) set a goal to make an effort, trying 200% of his strength "to not fall behind". Hoang set himself the requirement of "multi-tasking", both striving in studying and actively participating in Union and Association activities.

Be yourself, multitask, colorful

"Youth and enthusiasm are the most valuable assets of human beings. At the age of students, we have the most "capital", so do not hesitate to "invest" in the fields you want to pursue. We must live every moment of our youth to be truly worthy, try our best, and seize opportunities. Believe that there will be proud results waiting for us at the end of the journey." - Ha Vu Hoang

After more than 4 years of studying in the lecture hall, what makes Hoang most proud is not a perfect transcript or certificates of merit, but rather training his will, courage, not being discouraged by difficulties and making a commitment to himself to always improve every day. When he first entered the school, Hoang was also afraid of being overwhelmed by the huge amount of knowledge at medical school, afraid of falling behind his friends. The student tried 200% of his strength, finding for himself an effective and suitable learning method. "In particular, I always try to stay focused when performing tasks, whether studying or participating in activities, so that every moment must achieve maximum efficiency. That is an important note on how to manage time" - Hoang revealed. At the end of the first school year, Hoang achieved excellent academic results and received a semester of learning encouragement scholarship (10% of students with the highest overall scores received). Breaking the stereotype of "bookworms" and "only knowing how to study", Hoang said that besides being a medical student who has to constantly study and improve medical knowledge, you are also yourself with a multi-tasking, multi-colored student version.

That is the reason why Hoang is so active in the Union and Association activities, actively participating in activities to discover himself, improve his skills, and try his hand in many new fields. "Participating in student activities and movements brings me great lessons and values, allowing me to indulge my passion, immerse myself in the enthusiastic atmosphere of students, and have the opportunity to practice skills that will be useful for my present and future career" - Hoang said. What is more special is that the Association has created a connecting environment for Hoang to meet seniors and peers to both improve his knowledge and work side by side and support each other in the work of taking care of people's health.

The urge to find historical stories

At school, Hoang spent a long time working in propaganda activities when participating in student activities and movements as an Association officer. This job required the student to have a wealth of knowledge, learn about Vietnamese history and the position and role of Vietnamese youth and students in that flow. Especially learning about the history of Hanoi Medical University and the traditions of generations of students of the school.

Over time, Hoang seems to be fascinated by historical stories, urging him to seek out historical values ​​to understand and appreciate the contributions and sacrifices of previous generations. In every place he visits in Vietnam, from Bach Mai Hospital - where Hoang spent a lot of time interning or volunteering in provinces and cities, he always takes time to learn about the history, culture and historical sites there. At the same time, he often takes pictures to share on social networks, share with friends to understand the history of the country together, and together arouse the spirit of national pride and the will to develop the country. Selected as a representative delegate to the 11th National Congress of Vietnamese Students, Ha Vu Hoang expressed his hope that the Association will delve into discussing solutions to renew political education and foster ideals for students. Hoang also hopes that the Association will research many creative methods and approaches to attract and motivate students to arouse their patriotism, national pride and build their own strong political will.

The 11th National Congress of the Vietnam Student Association for the 2023-2028 term will be held from December 18 to 20 at the Labor Friendship Cultural Palace (Hanoi). The congress will be attended by nearly 700 delegates from 30 Vietnamese student associations of provinces and cities, 39 Vietnamese student associations of centrally-run schools and 13 Vietnamese student associations abroad.
