Top striker of Chinese National Championship dies after falling from 11th floor

The Gabon Football Federation announced Boupendza's passing: "Former Gabon international Aaron Boupendza has died after falling from the 11th floor of the apartment building in China where he was living while playing for Zhejiang FC."

Chinese media confirmed that investigators are considering three possibilities for Boupendza's death. First, Boupendza may have committed suicide. Second, he may have accidentally fallen from the 11th floor of the building and died immediately upon landing. Third, at the time of the incident, his brother was also in the apartment and they had an argument. Therefore, it is entirely possible that a conflict occurred that led to the death of the 29-year-old striker.

Boupendza was a striker for the Gabon national team.

Not to mention the information that Zhejiang FC (Chien Giang) provided to the police raised many questions. "Boupendza was also absent from the last training session without the club's permission. Zhejiang FC did not know where he was. We tried to contact him in many different ways, but were unsuccessful before we learned of his death," a source close to the media shared.

It is even more unfortunate because Boupendza has been in excellent form since joining Zhejiang FC. He has only played 6 matches for the club but has scored 4 goals to be among the top 5 strikers in the Chinese Super League.

Boupendza has an impressive CV. He has played for several teams in France such as Bordeaux, Ajaccio or Pau FC, Quang Hai's old team. That was also the period when Boupendza's career flourished with 15 goals in just 21 matches.

The Gabonese striker spent a short time in the United States before joining the Chinese Premier League and playing for Zhejiang FC. He was also a member of the Gabon national team, playing alongside Aubameyang for many years.
