“I did quite well in the recent high school graduation exam, but I didn’t think I would be a double valedictorian. I was very happy when I heard the news this morning,” said Dinh Thi Bich Ngoc, a student in Ninh Binh.
The female student who is causing a "fever online" when simultaneously conquering these two valedictorian positions is a 12th grade English 1 student at Luong Van Tuy High School for the Gifted, Ninh Binh City, Ninh Binh Province. Sharing with VietNamNet, Bich Ngoc said that this morning, after knowing that she was the valedictorian nationwide with a high school graduation exam score of 57.85 points (Math 8.8 points; Literature 9.75; History 10; Geography 10; Civic Education 9.5 and Foreign Language 9.8), she was very happy. Even happier was that right after that, she received information that she was the valedictorian nationwide in block C (Literature, History, Geography) with 29.75 points.

Ngoc shared that she did not have any special experience in the learning process or in which subject she focused. Bich Ngoc studied all subjects equally and made her own schedule for each subject, each day. “I got two 10s in History and Geography. This is because I did not memorize, I learned all the knowledge in the books and learned more information about society, from there, helping me to have a better overview of the subjects. Before taking the exam, I also studied and reviewed many types of questions,” Bich Ngoc shared. According to Ngoc, although she studied all subjects equally, she liked English more. In addition to studying the subjects, in her free time, Bich Ngoc studied English and listened to English songs. Among the scores of the subjects, this subject also brought Ngoc 9.8 points. “When my friends sent me the results and announced that I was the valedictorian, I thought they were joking. I calculated my score to be high but did not think I was the valedictorian. Then the homeroom teacher also announced it, I believed it was true," Bich Ngoc said with a smile. The high school where Bich Ngoc studies. Photo: Contributor
Talking about her future plans, the female student said that in the summer of grade 11, she participated in a project to teach English to children at the Ninh Binh Social Protection Center. After those teaching sessions, Bich Ngoc realized that English might be easy for her, but not for others. From then on, Bich Ngoc wanted to become a foreign language teacher. “I applied to 7 universities, and up to now, I have been accepted to 5 schools, including: Foreign Language University (Hanoi National University), Hanoi Pedagogical University, Foreign Trade University, Diplomatic Academy, Hanoi Law University. The remaining 2 schools are National Economics University and Academy of Journalism and Propaganda (the results will be announced in August). I plan to major in English pedagogy at Foreign Language University, Hanoi National University to become a foreign language teacher in the future,” Bich Ngoc said. Mr. Hoang Hai Nam - Principal of Luong Van Tuy High School for the Gifted, said that he and the teachers were very happy and proud to have a student with such high achievements. "Although she is a student majoring in English, Bich Ngoc is good at all subjects. She is also a motivation and an example for students in the next class to follow," said Mr. Nam.Vietnamnet.vn
