Taking care of the health, material and spiritual needs of children in special circumstances always receives the joint efforts of all levels, sectors, local authorities, and philanthropists inside and outside the province.
Recently, the Provincial Association for the Support of People with Disabilities and Orphans (PWD-TMC) and other benefactors visited and presented gifts to the family of two siblings, Dinh Khac Khoi (6 years old) and Dinh Thi Yen Nhi (2 years old), in Area 4A, Ha Phong Ward, Ha Long City. Khoi and Nhi's family currently live in a level 4 house previously built by benefactors.
Khoi and Nhi's father, Dinh Khac Hung (37 years old), lost both legs due to an accident. Their mother, Truong Thi Duong, is sick and has no stable job. Although the family is no longer poor, they are still in difficult circumstances. Every day, Khoi and Nhi's father sells lottery tickets on a homemade three-wheeled motorbike. The family's income, including the government subsidy, is about 3 million VND/month. This amount of money is very difficult to maintain the life of 4 people (including tuition fees).
Faced with the circumstances of Khoi and Nhi's family, the Provincial Association for the Protection of the Disabled and Disabled mobilized the Provincial Investment Promotion and Support Board to sponsor the two children with an amount of 12 million VND (6 million VND/child) in the 2023-2024 school year.
Touched by the concern of the benefactors, Mr. Dinh Khac Hung said: I thank the Provincial Association for the Support of the Disabled and TMC, the local government and the benefactors for their concern and support for my family. I will overcome all difficulties, strive to raise my children, and give them a full education to become useful people in the future.
There are still many lives in need of support like Khoi and Nhi. According to the provincial People's Committee, Quang Ninh has nearly 360,000 children under 16 years old, of which 144,887 are under 6 years old; 3,214 children are in special circumstances, 12,885 children are at high risk of falling into special circumstances. In recent years, with the attention of the province, departments, branches, localities, businesses, and philanthropists, children in the province have received comprehensive attention and care.
For children in special circumstances, the province has issued many specific policies as well as directed the coordination of mobilizing social resources to provide better care and support in terms of material and spiritual matters. In 2022, the whole province assisted 10,415 children in special circumstances to undergo congenital heart surgery, rehabilitation, orthopedic rehabilitation; received bicycles, scholarships, books, school supplies, etc.
Following the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, in 2023, all levels, sectors and localities in the province will continue to visit, encourage and support children in special circumstances. The Provincial Association for the Protection of Disabled and Disabled Children in coordination with the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs and the Provincial Media Center launched the campaign "Connecting Hands of Love for Disabled and Disabled Children in Quang Ninh Province", receiving over 8 billion VND from hundreds of agencies, units, local authorities, organizations and individuals inside and outside the province.
Responding to the Action Month for Children 2023 with the theme "Joining hands to reduce harm to children", the Provincial Association for the Protection of Disabled and Disabled Children coordinated with agencies, units, and philanthropists to visit, assist, and sponsor children in special circumstances. By June 10, the Provincial Association for the Protection of Disabled and Disabled Children had coordinated to sponsor 382 children with a total amount of over 420 million VND. Of which, 82 disabled and orphaned students who overcame difficulties to study received more than 90 million VND; 87 bicycles were donated worth 143 million VND; sponsorship money was given to 7 orphans and children living in disabled households worth 42 million VND; visits and gifts were given to 6 public and private facilities with orphans and disabled children worth 42.5 million VND...
Mr. Lanh The Vinh, Chairman of the Provincial Association for the Support of Disabled and Disabled Children, said: It is expected that by the end of June, the Provincial Association for the Support of Disabled and Disabled Children will coordinate activities to support about 600 children in special circumstances in the province with a total amount of 950 million VND. Caring for and supporting children in special circumstances requires the participation of the entire political system. In the coming time, we will connect with philanthropists to support and sponsor children in special circumstances in many different forms.
