'Our ancestors devoted and sacrificed for the Party, so what are the young people doing today?' is a question that makes many young people think quietly.

To celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2025), the Central Youth Union organized a traditional exchange program with the theme "The Party is my reason for living" at the Tan Trao special national relic site (Son Duong, Tuyen Quang).

The main point of the exchange program is located at the Tan Trao special national relic site (Son Duong, Tuyen Quang). Mr. Hoang Ngoc, 89 years old, was a member of the National Salvation Children's Team assigned by Uncle Ho.

Mr. Ngoc's house is in Kim Long village (now Tan Lap hamlet, Tan Trao commune). His grandfather was a member of the guerrilla team, his father was a liaison of Uncle Ho. At that time, Mr. Ngoc was only a 9-year-old boy who met Uncle Ho, and was trusted by Uncle Ho to carry out tasks with other friends of the same age.

"That day, Uncle Ho and the army came in great numbers, and everyone lived with the people," Mr. Ngoc said. "All of us in the village were enlightened about the revolution. The men worked as guards, holding guns to guard, the women went to the fields to pound rice to feed the army. As for us children, Uncle Ho assigned us the task of listening and keeping watch."

Mr. Hoang Ngoc and many other friends in the village were recruited into the National Children's Salvation Army.

Growing up, Mr. Ngoc joined the art troupe to promote the revolution. Now nearly 90 years old, he still clearly remembers every song he sang in the past. He said that his whole life has been devoted to the Party and he always believed that with the revolution, he would have everything.

"Today's youth need to learn history. No matter how advanced society is, youth must learn and understand the sacrifices of their ancestors for the country's independence and unity. At the same time, youth must constantly study and master science and technology to protect the country and protect the people," said Mr. Ngoc.

Mr. Quy joined the army in 1971 and fought in Quang Tri Citadel in 1972. After the great victory in the spring of 1975, he and his comrades took up arms to protect the southwestern border and the K battlefield. In 1979, he returned to the northern border battlefield to fight against the invading Chinese army.

The memory that has followed him for more than 50 years is the Party admission ceremony in a bunker on the Quang Tri battlefield. "In February 1972, my Party admission ceremony was held in a bunker. There was no music or make-up, only the whistling sound of artillery shells and bombs. We recited the oath and sang the Internationale amid the sound of falling bombs," Mr. Quy said emotionally.

He confided that at that time he did not know much about the Party. He only knew that the Party was something very sacred but also very close. "I kept looking at my teammates, those who had been admitted to the Party. Their personalities were examples for me to follow," said Mr. Quy.

What do young people do before the new era?

At the Ho Chi Minh City bridge, Mr. Nguyen Tran Anh Vu - Deputy Head of the Personnel Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction - said: "We understand that to have the full and good conditions as today is thanks to the leadership of the Party, founded and trained by President Ho Chi Minh. Besides, there is the sacrifice of the previous generation, who fought bravely to regain independence for the nation".

"As a young party member and young civil servant, we are fully aware of our role and position. We always study, practice, strive for the community, for society and complete our assigned tasks well to contribute our small part to the country" - Mr. Vu said.

At the Tuyen Quang bridge, interacting with hundreds of young people, Chu Hoa Bao Tram - a student at Hanoi Foreign Trade University - said she chose the international political economy department.

Tram was a good student in history, growing up with the Youth Union and Young Pioneers movement since childhood. She wants to continue pursuing her passion for history. However, Bao Tram is very aware that in the new era, she not only has to learn about history but also other factors such as culture, politics, etc.

Tram was admitted to the Party at the age of 18, when she was a 12th grader. She advised young people to maintain their own identity and personality, but always strive to improve themselves and spread good deeds to their peers.

"How can we integrate without dissolving? I hope that young party members not only try to improve their knowledge every day but also try to spread good deeds so that the new generation of young people can be more steadfast in the new era" - Bao Tram said.

Speaking at the program, Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet - Secretary of the Central Youth Union, President of the Vietnam Student Association - said that this is a meaningful and practical activity to arouse pride in the Party, the Fatherland, and the nation in each member and youth; at the same time, it demonstrates the determination of Vietnamese youth in following in the footsteps of their fathers and brothers, continuing to write the glorious golden pages of the country's history.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet emphasized that the achievements our country has today are not only the great contributions of previous generations, but also the continuation of the tradition of generations of Vietnamese youth.

"We understand that the Party is not only a political organization, but also an ideal, a belief, a sacred way of life. The Party has shown the way for our nation to independence, freedom, and happiness. The Party has brought us a prosperous, peaceful, and developed life," said Mr. Triet.
