Mark Zuckerberg officially joined the "club" of billionaires with assets of over 200 billion USD thanks to the sharp increase in Meta (Facebook's parent company) shares since the beginning of the year.
According to Bloomberg , this is the first time Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has more than 200 billion USD in hand. In the list of the 500 richest billionaires in the world, he is only behind Elon Musk (272 billion USD), Jeff Bezos (211 billion USD) and Bernard Arnault (207 billion USD).

Mark Zuckerberg also had the biggest increase in wealth this year. In the first 9 months of 2024, the Meta CEO added $73.4 billion to his fortune, bringing his total wealth to $201 billion.
While other tech giants will also see their net worths increase sharply in 2024, none will be as high as Zuckerberg. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, for example, will see his net worth double to $102.6 billion.
This is in stark contrast to 2022, when Meta shares and Mark Zuckerberg's net worth plummeted after the company underwent major changes, including changing its name from Facebook to Meta and investing heavily in virtual space technology.
At the time, Meta struggled to find a foothold in the short-form video market dominated by TikTok. Now, investors say the pivot from Facebook to Meta is finally paying off as the company increasingly relies on its Orion augmented reality glasses.
Combining hardware improvements over the past five years with advances in AI, Orion represents Meta's shift from a social networking company to a virtual space company, according to analysts at JP Morgan.
Mark Zuckerberg was born in 1984 and founded the social network Facebook in 2004. Just 3 years later, Facebook helped him become the world's youngest self-made billionaire at the age of 23.
