Nail lodged in the duodenum of a 6-year-old boy.

(Baoquangngai.vn) - While playing, a 6-year-old boy in Minh Long district accidentally swallowed a 3cm long nail.

On the evening of March 29th, doctors and nurses at the Provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital successfully removed a foreign object from the digestive tract of a young patient.

According to the boy's family, while playing, he accidentally swallowed a 3cm long iron nail. Afterwards, he experienced frequent vomiting, sore throat, and abdominal pain. The family took him to the Provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital for emergency treatment.

At the hospital, doctors conducted examinations, X-rays, and ultrasounds to determine the location of the foreign object in the digestive tract. Immediately afterward, the child was transferred to the Anesthesia and Resuscitation Department to perform the procedure to remove the foreign object.

Using gastrointestinal endoscopy, doctors successfully removed a metallic foreign object, identified as a 3cm long iron nail, from the duodenum of the child. The child's health is now stable, and they are being monitored further at the Pediatric Gastroenterology Department.
