According to local media, the incident occurred at around 1:00 p.m. (local time) on June 19 at the Xiajia scenic area in Zhaosu County, Xinjiang, China.
At this time, many tourists were traveling on the cable-stayed suspension bridge. The incident caused the bridge to tilt.
Footage shows tourists being pushed onto the tilted bridge. Screams of terror can be heard.
Rescue forces quickly arrived at the scene to organize the evacuation and rescue of tourists on the bridge.
A representative of the scenic area management board confirmed that although the bridge tilted, it did not collapse and that this was the first incident in the history of the bridge. Thanks to timely response, no tourists were injured.
A specialized agency has been assigned to investigate the cause of the above phenomenon.
The representative also said that the Xiajia scenic area will actively cooperate with the authorities to determine the cause and ensure the safety of visitors, as well as create conditions for the tourist area to quickly return to normal operations.
