A branch of Tang Long Bridge will open to traffic at the end of February 2025.

Currently, the project is entering the final stage with items such as asphalt pavement, stone paving at both ends of the bridge, installation of lighting system and completion of connecting roads. The investor is also renovating the remaining lane to ensure traffic for people.

A representative of the HCM City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (Traffic Board) said that right after the Lunar New Year, contractors actively implemented construction to ensure progress. Initially, the plan was to complete the project before Tet, however, due to difficulties in the source of construction materials, especially crushed stone, the progress had to be adjusted.

The shortage of crushed stone not only affects the Tang Long Bridge project but also many other traffic projects by the end of 2024. However, right after Tet, the problem of crushed stone supply was basically resolved, helping to speed up construction.

The Traffic Department is currently focusing all resources to open one bridge branch to traffic by the end of February. After the opening, the units will continue to complete the remaining bridge span and other items according to plan.

Tang Long Bridge spans Trau Trau Canal, is 231 m long with two branches, each 11 m wide, including two lanes and a sidewalk. The two ends of the bridge have approach roads with a total length of 559 m, equipped with lighting, trees and drainage systems.

The project started in late 2017 but had to be suspended in September 2019 due to land issues. The project has a total area of 2.62 hectares, with a total investment of VND 741.1 billion, of which VND 688 billion is the construction cost, the rest is the cost of compensation for site clearance. A total of 34 households are affected by the project.

By the end of October 2023, Thu Duc City People's Committee had handed over the site to the investor, creating conditions for the project to continue. With the current progress, people expect to soon be able to travel smoothly on this important bridge.
