Mr. Tran Van Thi, Director of My Thuan Project Management Board (Ministry of Construction) said: Rach Mieu 2 Bridge will officially be closed on April 19, about 4 months earlier than the original plan. After the main span is closed, Rach Mieu 2 Bridge will be put into operation in August 2025.

5% ahead of schedule

It is known that up to now, the entire project has completed 85% of the work volume, exceeding the overall progress by more than 5% compared to the plan. In particular, the main bridge section of Rach Mieu 2 Bridge is exceeding the progress by more than 15%.

Currently, the contractor has installed the 112th/112th cable-stayed bundle, and completed 13/14 main bridge deck blocks. As for the road section, contractors are constructing the entire 14/14km route, paving asphalt concrete in each segment and will complete the entire Ben Tre section before June 30, 2025.

Rach Mieu 2 Bridge connects Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces, and is one of the country's key transport projects. It not only contributes to meeting the increasing transportation demand on National Highway 60, sharing the burden with the existing Rach Mieu Bridge, but also promotes socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security of provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region in particular and the whole country in general.

Rach Mieu 2 Bridge is about 4km upstream of the Tien River from the existing bridge, the starting point connects Dong Tam intersection (intersection between National Highway 1 and Provincial Road 870) in Chau Thanh district, Tien Giang province; the end point connects National Highway 60, in Ben Tre city, 700m from Ham Luong bridge.

The main span of Rach Mieu 2 Bridge is more than 1.9km long and is designed as a cable-stayed bridge. The tower is 113m high. The bridge has 4 lanes with a width of 21.5m and a design speed of 80km/h.

The project has a total investment of more than 6,800 billion VND, starting in March 2022, and is expected to be completed in early 2026. Recently, after directly inspecting the project, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested that the project be completed earlier than planned in time for the National Day holiday on September 2, 2025.
