A Facebook post by the Ukrainian Border Guard stated that they had noticed and tracked a "suspicious object" until it stopped near the Ukrainian side of the riverbank.
The object has been identified as a pontoon bridge used by the Russian side to cross the river. Bomb disposal experts have confirmed that the metal object is not dangerous.
A pontoon bridge, or floating bridge, consists of pontoons that are fixed together. The number of pontoons and their buoyancy determine the bridge's maximum span and load capacity.
Both sides in the Ukraine conflict have used pontoon bridges in attempts to cross rivers.
