Component project 1A Tan Van - Nhon Trach (phase 1) of Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 has a total length of 8.22km, started on September 24, 2022 with a total investment of nearly 7,000 billion VND (Korean ODA capital and domestic counterpart capital) invested by My Thuan Project Management Board.
Mr. Tran Van Thi - Director of My Thuan Project Management Board (under the Ministry of Transport) said that this project has two construction packages. Of which, the Nhon Trach bridge construction package, which is over 2,000m long, is constructed by Kumho E&C (Korea), the largest bridge on Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3.
The construction package of the approach roads at both ends of the bridge was constructed by a joint venture of Dongbu Corporation (Korea) - VNCN E&C Construction and Engineering Investment Joint Stock Company (Vietnam) with a length of 5.6km.
Regarding the project progress, the Nhon Trach bridge construction package has so far reached 80% completion, expected to be completed on April 30, 2025, 4 months earlier than the signed contract. In September, the first span of the bridge will be closed before connecting the remaining spans in early 2025. The remaining items will be completed to open to traffic during the holiday.
The approach road section at both ends of the bridge is 5.6km long, and the contract completion date is mid-September 2025. To date, the cumulative progress of the package has reached nearly 37%, and the investor is shortening the progress as required.
According to Mr. Thi, in the recent past, during the project implementation, there were some difficulties such as the scarcity of construction materials, and the site clearance was still locally stuck in some locations, but so far they have basically been resolved.
The Tan Van - Nhon Trach Component 1A project is about 8.22km long, of which 6.3km runs through Dong Nai and 1.92km runs through Ho Chi Minh City. The starting point of the project intersects with Provincial Road 25B (Nhon Trach District) and the end point intersects with Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway in Thu Duc City (Ho Chi Minh City).
In phase 1, the route is built with a width of 20.5-26m with 4 lanes and a speed of 80km/h.
Last June, the Ministry of Transport proposed to the Prime Minister to adjust the scale of the 80km/h expressway to a 100km/h expressway, and the total investment of the project to nearly VND9,270 billion, an increase of more than VND2,300 billion compared to the present.
The additional capital will be used to supplement many items, such as: building an additional side of Nhon Trach bridge similar to the bridge currently under construction to expand the route; arranging an intelligent transportation system (ITS), non-stop toll collection (ETC), vehicle load inspection stations and a number of other technical solutions...
According to the Ministry of Transport, the Tan Van - Nhon Trach 1A component project was approved for investment in 2016 when it was not yet determined when other sections of Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 would be implemented. Therefore, the project has not been designed according to expressway standards. Up to now, the remaining part of Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project has been invested and will be operated as an expressway, so the Tan Van - Nhon Trach 1A component project needs to be adjusted to synchronize the entire route.
