Nearly 30 years ago, the Thanh Hoa Literature and Arts Association focused on establishing the Thanh Hoa Women Artists' Club with the aim of creating opportunities for meeting, interacting, learning, sharing, and encouraging each other in both creative activities and daily life. During its development, through many practical and meaningful activities, the Club attracted a large number of members, truly becoming a gathering place for enthusiastic and creative women artists who always wish to contribute to the development of their homeland.
A symposium on female artists and writers from Thanh Hoa province who participated in serving on the battlefield during the war against the US for national liberation was organized by the Thanh Hoa Female Artists and Writers Club.
The Thanh Hoa Women Artists' Club was established in 1995, under the Thanh Hoa Provincial Association of Literature and Arts. It is known that the idea for establishing the club stemmed from the affection, attachment, and desire of several female artists from the theater group to continue contributing to the province's cultural and artistic activities. These were the artists who had brought their songs, performances, and shows to various battlefields during the war against the US to encourage and motivate soldiers to fight bravely. In its early days, the club had 25 members, mainly female members from the literature, poetry, and theater groups. At that time, the club's activities were limited to cultural and artistic gatherings, sharing aspirations, plans, and perspectives on professional work; and chatting about family matters and daily life.
Throughout the history of the country, the image of Vietnamese women as "heroic, indomitable, loyal, and capable" has become a beautiful symbol. Building on that spirit, after nearly 30 years of operation, the Thanh Hoa Women Artists' Club has continuously developed both in terms of membership numbers and the quality of its activities. Currently, the club has over 100 members, all female members working in 11 specialized departments of the Thanh Hoa Association of Literature and Arts, employed in various units, and many members have retired. Members, ranging in age from 28 to nearly 80, remain enthusiastic, passionate, and dedicated to creative arts and cultural activities, as well as the club's activities.
Over the years, the club has continuously innovated its content and methods of operation to unleash the potential and creativity of its members, contributing to enriching the cultural and spiritual life of people both inside and outside the province. The greatest goal in the life of an artist, regardless of gender, is to create works of art. Deeply aware of this, the members of the Thanh Hoa Women Artists Club continue to strive and work diligently on their artistic journey, achieving many remarkable results. Many members of the club have won annual arts and culture awards from the Thanh Hoa Association of Arts and Culture, as well as awards from the central government, ministries, and departments. Many female artists have won medals at various festivals, competitions, and exhibitions.
Alongside its professional activities, a highlight of the Women Artists' Club's work is the regular organization of seminars and numerous field trips for creative writing. Recently, the club has organized 10 seminars on relevant, lively, and practical topics such as: Women artists from Thanh Hoa studying the thoughts, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh ; Women artists from Thanh Hoa excelling in both public and private life; the image of women in the literary works of female writers from Thanh Hoa; women artists who are "confident, self-respecting, loyal, and capable"; Women artists from Thanh Hoa participating in serving on the battlefield during the war against the US; the image of Muong women in the literary works of female writer Ha Thi Cam Anh; the image of doctors as kind mothers in the poetry of Hong Van...
With the support of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Association of Literature and Arts, the Thanh Hoa Writers and Artists Club organizes annual field trips to various localities within the province for creative writing. Writer Vien Lan Anh, the head of the Thanh Hoa Women Writers and Artists Club, shared: “These trips provide opportunities for female writers and artists to connect with the grassroots, get closer to the realities of life, and stay focused on the province's political tasks. This inspires the creation of high-quality works that leave a lasting impression on readers. At the same time, these field trips allow members to interact, learn from each other, recite poetry, tell stories, and perform unique artistic performances, thereby strengthening solidarity, love, and sharing in both creative work and life.”
Anyone who has attended club meetings, seminars, or met and interacted with club members will fully understand the close bond and camaraderie among these women. Anyone who has read their prose and poetry, watched their performances, listened to their singing and music, and admired their paintings and architectural works will be impressed by the talent and creativity of these female artists from Thanh Hoa province.
Despite the remaining difficulties and challenges, the strong bonds of affection, mutual respect, and dedication to creativity will be the foundation and driving force for the club's continued development, ensuring that the Thanh Hoa Women Artists' Club truly becomes a place for meeting, sharing, and inspiring creativity.
