The story of innovation of the Vietnamese dairy industry at the Global Dairy Conference

The Global Dairy Congress 2024 with the theme "Healthy people - Healthy Planet" took place in the UK from June 25 to 27 with the participation of more than 200 representatives from countries around the world, to discuss the role and contribution of the dairy industry to the sustainable development of life, people and the earth.

Billion dollar brand, representing the Vietnamese spirit

As the sole representative of Vietnam at the conference, Vinamilk appeared with the innovation story of a billion-dollar brand representing Vietnam, integrating with global trends.

Sharing about the theme and presentations this year, Mr. Richard Hall, Chairman of the Global Dairy Conference, said that businesses need to create quality and advanced products, demonstrating the nutritional benefits of milk for human health.

"In addition, there is awareness and action towards sustainable development for the earth. Typically, in Vinamilk's sharing about their strategies, with Green Farm farms and Green Farm products", Mr. Richard Hall emphasized and gave evidence.

He sees this as a prime example of the value that nature can bring to a product, thanks to the company's efforts to reduce emissions from farms, products and many other aspects of the value chain.

Mindful change - towards sustainable development

This year, Vinamilk contributed a speech with the message "Care to change" in the discussion section Branding for future at the conference.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Tri, Vinamilk Marketing Executive Director, shared about strategic innovations in 4 directions: future generations, better nutrition, customer experience and sustainable future.

Mr. Tri assessed that these are aspects that will create momentum for the strong development of the company and the dairy industry in general in the overall picture of the world.

"We change for you - that is a strong affirmation from Vinamilk and also our commitment to the community when launching our new identity. Changing a brand that has been established for nearly half a century is a challenging decision for us. And reality has shown that the change has been well received beyond expectations."

In terms of providing breakthrough nutritional solutions, Mr. Tri gave an example of the breakthrough of Vinamilk Green Farm fresh milk product line. This is a product that Vinamilk applies dual vacuum technology to, helping to preserve the natural aroma, a bit of grass and flowers and a sweet aftertaste. Green Farm is the continuation of Vinamilk's journey to build a "new world", opening a series of innovation campaigns in other product lines that follow.

Regarding the customer experience upgrade strategy, Mr. Tri said that applying flexible conversion technology between online and offline will ensure the company's customer experience will be consistent no matter where they are.

Regarding the story of sustainable development from Vinamilk, Dr. Timothy Robinson, independent consultant of the Global Dairy Sustainability Framework (DSF), highly appreciated the results, and said that Vinamilk is a typical example of the Vietnamese dairy industry aiming for the Net Zero goal.

"In the coming time, I expect there will be more coordination and cooperation between Vietnam and the Global Dairy Initiative on Net Zero (Pathways to Dairy Net Zero) as well as deeper participation in the Dairy Sustainable Development Framework, to be able to provide more support for Vinamilk and Vietnam's programs," said Dr. Timothy Robinson.

Vinamilk is in the top 5 most sustainable milk brands globally.

As one of the Top 5 most sustainable dairy brands in the world, sustainable development is mentioned as one of the main goals in Vinamilk's strategy. In 2023, to mark an important milestone, the company officially announced its Net Zero target roadmap to 2050.

Less than a year after announcing this roadmap, the company now has 3 units including 1 farm and 2 factories certified as carbon neutral according to PAS2060:2014 standards. Vinamilk is also the first unit in Vietnam to register to support the Global Dairy Industry Initiative on Net Zero - Pathways to Dairy Net Zero. This result received a lot of attention from the conference.
