The "small" boy strives to overcome his fate.

Born into an extremely disadvantaged family in Hamlet 8, Thanh Hoa Commune, Bu Dop District, fate was not kind to him. From the moment he was born, he was not normal like other children. Due to a genetic condition inherited from his disabled father (due to exposure to the chemical dioxin), he suffered from congenital atrophy of both legs, leaving him a small, frail boy weighing less than 20kg, making movement very difficult and arduous.

Out of love for their son, his parents tried everything to get him treatment, but to no avail. From a young age, the boy was very eager to learn, and Son's persistent efforts filled his parents with pride mixed with a touch of sadness.

Despite his disability, Son possesses extraordinary perseverance and patience, enabling him to pursue his life's dreams.

Despite his physical disability and the many difficulties he faced in life, Son excelled in all subjects throughout his 12 years of schooling. For many years, he consistently achieved top honors at the school, district, and provincial levels, particularly in Physics. Not only was he an outstanding student academically, but he also actively participated in clubs and youth union activities organized by the school. With the dream of becoming an IT expert, Son successfully passed the entrance exam to Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education. "This success proves that no matter how harsh the circumstances, determination and relentless effort can open the door to new heights," Hai Son shared.

During his high school years, Son was driven to and from school by his mother. On days when his mother was sick or busy, he would ask his classmates to pick him up. Thanks to the care and support of his teachers, friends, and social organizations, Son didn't feel sad or self-conscious. The companionship of everyone gave him the willpower and motivation to overcome difficulties, study hard, and pass the entrance exam to the Faculty of Information Technology at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education. Today, Son has a stable job with a monthly income.

Life for a patient may be inconvenient, but it's not unhappy. He always remains optimistic, affirming his self-worth and bringing positive value to those in similar circumstances. After graduating, Son became an IT engineer serving the Vietnam Association for the Assistance of Disabled People (VNAH). He also regularly participates in competitions for people with disabilities and television programs such as " Hello, My Love" and "Flowers in Everyday Life".   This is a collaboration between Binh Phuoc Radio and Television Station and Binh Phuoc Newspaper, with the desire to inspire resilience in life and spread positive messages in society.

For his positive contributions to community work, Mr. Son received a certificate of merit as an " Outstanding student in academics, work, and community integration during the period 2016-2018".   certificate of merit   "Outstanding disabled individuals who have achieved success in life"; ...   Notably, Tran Ai Hai Son is one of 38 outstanding young people with disabilities who are being honored in the "Shining Vietnamese Resilience" program in 2024, organized by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union in collaboration with TCP Vietnam Co., Ltd.
