Distributing 2,000 green-skinned grapefruit seedlings to farmers' association members of Viet Tien commune

This is an activity under the Project "Developing tropical fruit growing areas according to value chains in Bao Yen district, phase 2022 - 2025" under the National Target Program on New Rural Construction, phase 2021 - 2025.

Accordingly, the Farmers' Association of Bao Yen district distributed 2,000 green-skinned grapefruit seedlings to 18 farmer members of Coc Khieng and Ham Rong villages of Viet Tien commune for intensive cultivation on 5 hectares. The total value of implementation was more than 530 million VND, of which more than 215 million VND came from the state budget (to buy seedlings), the rest was the counterpart (part of seedlings, fertilizers and labor) of the farmer members participating in the model.

Seedlings provided to farmer members have been certified by specialized agencies for origin and disease-free.

After distributing plant varieties, the District Farmers' Association coordinated with the seedling supplier to directly instruct farmer members on the process and techniques of planting and caring for green-skinned grapefruit varieties in a biological manner, increasing sustainable productivity while protecting the environment.

The distribution of green-skinned grapefruit seedlings in Viet Tien commune aims to transform the crop structure, shifting from ineffective annual crops to fruit trees with high economic efficiency, creating long-term livelihoods and increasing income for farmers. At the same time, promoting the local potential in implementing Resolution No. 10 dated August 26, 2021 of the Standing Committee of Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee on the Strategy for developing agricultural commodities in Lao Cai province to 2030, with a vision to 2050.
