[Update] - Thanh Hoa deploys permanent forces and equipment to prevent and fight natural disasters and search and rescue

To respond to storm No. 3 Yagi, currently, units and localities in the province have proactively mobilized forces and plans to handle on-site and mobile situations that may occur.

* Quick information from the Thanh Hoa Provincial Border Guard Command , the unit has prepared to strictly maintain its standing troops, vehicles, and materials, ready to handle situations.

It is known that, in the face of the complicated developments of storm No. 3 Yagi, the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue of the Border Guard of Thanh Hoa province has directed 4 Storm Information Stations to regularly notify, call and guide ships operating at sea to know the location and direction of the storm to proactively avoid and not enter dangerous areas; direct units to supplement plans for natural disaster prevention, search and rescue; organize flare firing when ordered; organize counting and call ships operating to safe shelters; coordinate to help people prevent natural disasters, move ships and rafts to safe places.

Thanh Hoa Provincial Border Guard Command also strictly maintains standing troops, vehicles, and materials, ready to handle situations on the spot and mobilize support when ordered.

The unit also directed the coastal units and the Command to maintain 100% of the standing troops, ready to mobilize to support and handle situations on the spot when they occur; organize forces to go to the area to help people prevent natural disasters; maintain 2 ships BP 05-98-01, BP 05-13-01 and boat BP 05-15-01 on standby ready to mobilize ; direct 2 units to organize the firing of storm warning flares in accordance with Decision No. 18/2021/QD-TTg dated April 22, 2021 of the Prime Minister to ensure safety.

Regarding the results of calling and counting boats, by 5:00 a.m. on September 6, Thanh Hoa province had called on 5,398 vehicles and 14,854 workers to anchor at the province's ports and neighboring localities.

Currently, the number of vehicles and workers remaining at sea is 274 vehicles and 1,296 workers. The operating vehicles have grasped information about the dangerous area and regularly keep in touch with the authorities, families, and local authorities 1-2 times/day.

* To proactively respond to storm No. 3, the Chairman of Thanh Hoa City People's Committee has issued a telegram requesting wards, communes and related units to focus on leading, directing, and implementing drastic, timely and effective prevention and response work at the highest level to ensure the safety of people's lives, especially children and vulnerable groups; and minimize damage to people's and State's property.

The Chairman of Thanh Hoa City People's Committee requested the Party Secretary and the Chairman of the People's Committee of wards and communes to postpone non-urgent meetings to focus on the work of preventing and responding to storm No. 3. Assign each Party Committee member to go directly to the streets, villages, and key areas of natural disasters to lead, direct, urge, and inspect the work of preventing and fighting storms and floods.

* In Vinh Loc district , before the developments of storm No. 3, the Chairman of Vinh Loc district People's Committee requested the Chairmen of the People's Committees of communes and towns, heads of relevant departments, offices and units to focus on leading, directing, organizing inspections, urging, and implementing drastic, timely and effective storm prevention and response work with the spirit of proactive prevention and response at the highest level to ensure the safety of lives, especially children and vulnerable groups, and minimize damage to property of the People and the State.

Vinh Loc district requested communes and towns to postpone non-urgent meetings; mobilize the entire political system to participate, assign each comrade in the Standing Committee, Chairman, Vice Chairmen of the People's Committee of the commune/town to directly go to key areas to lead, direct the implementation, urge, and inspect the work of storm and flood prevention and control. Direct to ensure the safety of dikes, dams, traffic safety, limit damage to houses, warehouses, headquarters, public works, industrial clusters, factories, and enterprises; protect agricultural production, prevent flooding in urban areas and densely populated areas. Proactively arrange forces, materials, and means in key areas to be ready to promptly handle situations that arise when there are storms, floods, and inundations... Up to this point, Vinh Loc district has harvested 1,038.50/4,461 hectares of rice, reaching 23.3%...

Along with appreciating the response preparation work of communes and towns, the leaders of Cam Thuy district requested that communes and towns focus on directing and guiding farmers to continue taking advantage of favorable weather to mobilize human resources and machinery to quickly harvest crops, especially rice and corn that are 80% or more ripe, and other crops that are ready for harvest with the motto "green at home is better than ripe in the fields"; especially in low-lying areas at risk of flooding.

At the inspection points, the working group directed and guided localities and units at risk to strictly implement measures such as: Evacuating people in low-lying areas to safe places; immediately reviewing areas at risk of local landslides when there is heavy rain and prolonged rain to have a solution; relocating and replacing electric poles in low-lying areas and broken electric poles that are not safe; taking advantage of the weather to harvest ripe rice fields.

Up to now, Trieu Son district has not recorded any impact caused by storms.
