An Indian couple invited 350 guests and booked an entire resort for four days in one of Phu Quoc's most expensive areas, raising hopes that the island will become a destination for extravagant weddings.
Speaking to VnExpress , a representative from Sun World said that the wedding of the Indian couple was held from January 20th to 23rd in the Sunset Town area with 350 guests, all from the upper class.
The couple booked an entire 5-star resort in the southern part of the island for their four-day wedding. The resort has 234 rooms, suites, and villas, with the most expensive being a 7-bedroom villa costing approximately 200 million VND per night. In 2019, this location was also booked entirely for a lavish wedding of another couple from India.
The bride and groom decided to choose this resort as their wedding venue about six months in advance. They flew to Vietnam four times to inspect the location and assess the quality of service.
The resort was chosen because it has successfully hosted many weddings for Indian couples. They have a dedicated team honed with the skills and knowledge to create unique experiences for guests and wedding organizers, particularly in developing diverse Indian menus. Furthermore, the resort's location and architecture are also factors that appeal to Indian guests.
According to Sun World representatives, Phu Quoc is becoming a top destination for lavish Indian weddings thanks to its pristine beauty and world- class services, gradually replacing traditional destinations like Bali or Phuket.
Regarding the wedding, the organizers stated that the Sangeet ceremony, with close friends of the bride and groom, was held on the evening of January 21st at the Grand Ballroom of the Sun Signature Gallery, an "art museum" located in the heart of Sunset Town. The wedding ceremony took place on January 22nd. In the morning, the couple held the Haldi ceremony, the first traditional ritual in an Indian wedding, at the resort they booked entirely. Following that, they held a Baraat procession from the resort to the wedding venue in Sunset Town in luxury cars.

The wedding venue is the Kiss Of The Sea stage complex, featuring a multi-experience show combining fire, water, and lasers. According to the organizers, the main ceremony will also include a spectacular fireworks display.
The wedding theme blended elements of Indian culture with indigenous Vietnamese influences, evident in details such as the seven giant red and gold chairs, symbolizing Indian aristocracy, and the lotus flowers floating on the water, representing Vietnamese culture. The official wedding ceremony coincided with the most beautiful sunset of the day in Phu Quoc.
To prepare for lavish all-night parties, the couple brought dozens of professional chefs from India to Phu Quoc and collaborated with the resort's international culinary team. The menu for the party will feature dishes from diverse cultures such as Thailand, Vietnam, France, the Mediterranean, and India.
Phu Quoc tourism in 2023 was not very promising, with the total number of visitors during major holidays being lower than the same period last year. Since the end of last year, officials and businesses on the island have been striving to find ways to recover, such as coordinating between different units, reducing airfare, organizing international-scale events, and targeting potential customer groups, including Indian tourists.
