TPO – With the roadbed construction volume reaching 74%, and the locality committing to complete the clearance in August, the Van Ninh – Cam Lo expressway project is speeding towards the finish line, with the goal of opening to traffic 6 months ahead of schedule.

Van Ninh – Cam Lo Expressway is a component project of the North – South Eastern Expressway Project for the 2021-2025 period. The project is 62.3 km long, passing through the two provinces of Quang Binh and Quang Tri.

The project is invested by the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board (Ministry of Transport) with a capital of VND 9,900 billion and started in January 2023.

According to the investment decision, the Van Ninh – Cam Lo expressway project will be completed in October 2025. However, due to urgent needs, including reducing traffic pressure on National Highway 1A, the investor is directing the project to be constructed as quickly as possible.

The current construction status at the project site shows that the road foundation has been dug and filled according to the elevation.

Thanks to the fast construction plan, after just over 1 year of construction, many sections of the highway project's roadbed have been paved with asphalt.

Speaking with Tien Phong reporter, the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board said that by August 15, 2024, the total output reached about 55%, of which the roadbed was 74.2% complete, and some kilometers of the project had completed asphalt (layer C16).

Regarding the site, the investor said that currently, the total length of more than 62 km of the project is only stuck with nearly 1 km. This stuck part has just been committed by the two provinces of Quang Binh and Quang Tri to be completed before August 30, 2024.

Based on the construction volume and achieved site, the investor said that instead of October 2025, the project has just proposed a plan to strive to open to traffic on April 30, 2025 (6 months ahead of schedule).

The total output reached about 55% of the contract value. Specifically, the completed roadbed: 46.28/62.32km, reaching 74.26%; Completed roadbed: 43.63 - reaching 70.01%; ATB pavement layer: 36.24 - reaching 58.15%; C19 pavement layer: 35.84km - reaching 57.51%; C16 pavement layer: 28.00km - reaching 42.72%.

As of August 15, the area handed over by the two localities to the project was 64.852km, reaching 98.93%; the remaining area not yet handed over (including parking lots) is about 1km located in the two provinces of Quang Binh and Quang Tri.
