On August 30, Deputy Minister of Transport Le Anh Tuan inspected the National Highway 19B traffic project, the economic zone axis road and worked with the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province on the Quy Nhon - Pleiku Expressway construction investment project.

Reporting at the meeting, Mr. Luu Nhat Phong, Director of the Traffic Project Management Board of Binh Dinh province, said that the route of the Quy Nhon - Pleiku expressway project has been agreed upon by the Standing Committees of Binh Dinh and Gia Lai Provincial Party Committees. The route length is approximately 122km (the section passing through Binh Dinh is approximately 37km and Gia Lai is over 85km).

The project starts at National Highway 19B (Km 39+200) in Nhon My Commune, An Nhon Town. The route will go in a southwest direction, crossing the Kon River and National Highway 19, then go in a west direction about 4-5km from National Highway 19 and cross An Khe Pass to Gia Lai. The end point is at the intersection of Ho Chi Minh Road (in Pleiku City, Gia Lai Province).

Deputy Minister of Transport Le Anh Tuan noted that the Quy Nhon - Pleiku expressway must be connected to many regions and areas such as Nhon Hoi Economic Zone, Quy Nhon Port, airport, and national highways passing through the province. Especially connecting with the North - South expressway and the high-speed railway in the future.

"The Prime Minister has requested that the expressway must promote effective connectivity. We hope that the locality will plan infrastructure to connect traffic with the Quy Nhon - Pleiku expressway in the most seamless and convenient way. It must be developed in conjunction with aviation and high-speed railways in the future. It must connect economic zones, urban areas, National Highway 1, and the North - South expressway," Deputy Minister Tuan emphasized.

Regarding the Quy Nhon - Pleiku expressway, Deputy Minister Le Anh Tuan also requested relevant units to carefully calculate and review to avoid having to make too many adjustments or causing complications during implementation.

"The route has been agreed upon by the Standing Committees of the two provinces. Here, I request the consultant to review and re-evaluate to ensure the plan, to avoid having to make too many adjustments later. Especially when passing through forest areas, we must consider the specific impact on the forest, because we have to change the purpose of forest use.

Going through natural forests and protective forests is very complicated. Therefore, it is necessary to clearly identify the area of ​​the route through the forest for calculation. Work with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of localities to have accurate data on forest impacts," the Deputy Minister requested.

Deputy Minister Le Anh Tuan said that the next phase will review the bridges and tunnels on the route to make appropriate adjustments. In addition, the opinions of the two localities in the documents will be collected and the specialized agencies will review them to have a document submitted to the Government and ask for opinions from the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Ministry of Finance on the total investment of the project.

Connecting many areas of Binh Dinh

Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa, Deputy Director of the Department of Transport of Binh Dinh province, said that the department has coordinated with the agencies of the Ministry of Transport to conduct surveys many times to propose the directions of the Quy Nhon - Pleiku expressway to the leaders of Binh Dinh province based on connections suitable for local development.

According to Mr. Nguyen Tu Cong Hoang, Vice Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee, after studying the 3 route options, the most suitable route was decided to be selected with the starting point at Km39+200 on National Highway 19B. The starting point is connected to Phu Cat airport, National Highway 1 and the North-South Expressway.

According to the leaders of Binh Dinh province, the expressway section through Binh Dinh province starting at National Highway 19B ensures compliance with the planning and development orientation of the province, without disrupting the planning of communes and wards of An Nhon town. Ensuring space for urban development, inner and outer areas of An Nhon.

Quy Nhon - Pleiku Expressway will connect many regions and many key traffic routes of Binh Dinh.

The Quy Nhon - Pleiku Expressway helps to maximize the potential advantages of the extended Nhon Hoi Economic Zone axis road and the National Highway 19B section adjacent to Phu Cat Airport, which has been upgraded and expanded. Minimize the impact on the flood drainage space east of National Highway 1 and the National Highway 1 bypass. Reduce compensation, support and resettlement costs to save the State budget.

Binh Dinh leaders added that building the expressway will help connect with industrial parks such as Phu Tai, Long My, Nhon Hoi... and tourist destinations in Binh Dinh such as Quang Trung Museum, Ky Co, Ham Ho...

The expressway will also help connect with Nhon Hoi Economic Zone via the economic zone axis, connect with Quy Nhon port via National Highway 1, the new National Highway 19, connect with Dieu Tri railway station via National Highway 1, creating a seamless connection.
