Sand has been supplied in sufficient quantity and contractors are busy working on the Cao Lanh - An Huu Expressway, component 1 of the project, through Dong Thap province. However, the completion of roadbed loading by the end of this year is unlikely to be achieved as planned.



At the location where Thien An Mechanical and Construction Company Limited is in charge of construction, Mr. Phan Van Hanh, Project Manager, said that each day, the contractor receives an average of 1,500m3 of sand, meeting construction needs.

The contractor has arranged 170 workers and about 50 specialized machines and equipment to carry out tasks related to road construction, construction of the remaining parts of the continuous floor beams and the intersection bridge...

According to the construction plan, the contractor will strive to focus on sand loading phase 1, completing the remaining parts of the floor beams and branch bridges. To complete this workload, the contractor has deployed 15 construction teams, 6 construction teams working overtime compared to the previous time.

"Up to now, the project has completed 65% of the assigned work volume. It is expected that in January 2025, the contractor will complete the first phase of the load-bearing embankment," said Mr. Hanh.

Dozens of construction teams have been arranged by the contractor and are urgently constructing.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Tuan, Project Manager, VNCN Investment - Construction and Engineering Joint Stock Company (construction contractor) said that up to now, 6/9 bridges in the package have been basically completed. As for the remaining 3 bridges, the contractor will complete them in April 2025.

This unit has increased human resources, material resources and equipment to the construction site. Starting from 6am to 10pm every day, 150 workers and 50 machines and equipment are operated continuously. In addition, the contractor has also arranged 10 construction teams, of which 4 are for bridge construction and 6 are for road construction with a total length of 9.4km undertaken by the unit.

Sand has been supplied to the Cao Lanh - An Huu highway construction site, section passing through Dong Thap province.

However, up to this point, the contractor has only been able to load about 7km, making it difficult to complete 100% as planned by the end of this year. In order to be able to load the roadbed, the contractor must handle each step according to new regulations to ensure the technical factors of the highway.

"Although it is very urgent, it is expected that we will complete the roadbed loading by March 2025, later than planned," said Mr. Tuan.

It is unlikely that the roadbed loading will be completed by the end of this year.

Dong Thap Province Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (investor) said that component project 1, Cao Lanh - An Huu expressway, the section passing through the province is about 16km long, with a preliminary total investment of 3,640 billion VND.

The project's cumulative output to date has reached 49% of the contract value, basically meeting the construction plan. In particular, the bridge and floor girder sections have continued to progress according to regulations. In particular, the road section is behind schedule compared to the original plan.

Relevant units strive to basically open the route by the end of 2025, completing the project in 2026 in line with the progress of the My An - Cao Lanh expressway and component project 2, the Cao Lanh - An Huu expressway invested by Tien Giang province.

The Cao Lanh - An Huu Expressway starts at the intersection with the My An - Cao Lanh Expressway in Cao Lanh District, Dong Thap Province. The end point is at the intersection with the Trung Luong - My Thuan Expressway in Cai Be District, Tien Giang Province.
The scale of the completed phase cross-section meets the standards of a four-lane highway. The cross-section of phase 1 is divided into four-lane investment scales, with a roadbed width of 17m and an operating speed of 80km/h.
