Cantona criticised Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Speaking at an event for FC United, a group of supporters set up to fight the Glazers, Eric Cantona commented: "Since Ratcliffe came in, this group of directors is trying to destroy everything and they don't respect anyone. I feel sad that Manchester United is in this situation. They have decided on a different direction, a different strategy."

Cantona also criticised Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his team's desire to demolish Old Trafford and build a new one. The French legend said: "They even want to change the stadium. Old Trafford is forever a symbol. For me, Arsenal lost their soul when they left Highbury and I'm sure many fans still miss Highbury.

Can you imagine Liverpool playing in a stadium other than Anfield? It's impossible. I don't think United can play in a stadium other than Old Trafford."

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, through the Ineos group, acquired 27.7% of MU shares in February 2024 for around £1.25 billion. Since then, the British billionaire has made a series of changes by cutting staff and tightening spending. In addition, Sir Jim Ratcliffe also decided to increase season ticket prices, which angered many MU fans.

In an interview in March, Sir Jim Ratcliffe shocked many United fans when he said bluntly that "the club will run out of money by the end of the year" if no drastic decisions were made. The "Red Devils" suffered a record loss in the 2023/24 season and are struggling to recover from the damage they have suffered.

Cantona also admitted that Sir Jim Ratcliffe was wrong to strip Sir Alex Ferguson, who won 13 Premier League titles with MU, of his ambassadorial rights.

Currently, MU has refused to comment on Cantona's statements. The team just had a 2-2 draw with Lyon in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals in the early morning of April 11.

'Old man' Elanga soloed from midfield, causing sadness for MU. In the early morning of April 2, Nottingham Forest beat MU 1-0 in round 30 thanks to the only goal by Anthony Elanga.
