The surreal scenery at Donglin Temple in Hengzi County, Jiangxi Province (China), was accidentally captured by a photographer using a drone during the first days of the new year.
According to According to Newsflare , photographer Cheng, who captured the scene, called it a "spectacular display of nature."
The image shows a 48-meter-tall statue of Amitabha Buddha emerging from a "sea of clouds." Many who saw it compared the scene to the "Buddha descending to earth" segment in the TV series Journey to the West.
This is one of the tallest Amitabha Buddha statues in the world , covered with 48kg of gold, at a total cost of up to 162 million USD (over 4 trillion VND).
Donglin Temple was a major influence during the Tang Dynasty (618-907). It once housed over 1,000 monks and covered an area of 120,000 square meters with 310 rooms and halls.
Nowadays, tourists can visit this place without having to buy an entrance fee.
