On the gently sloping sand dunes, dozens of large windmill-like blades stand. The afternoon sunlight makes the blades shine even brighter against the blue sky. Ms. Lien takes advantage of the beautiful light to sit on the steps facing the vast ocean and “take selfies” with beautiful pictures to upload online to show off to friends far away so they can admire the Dai Phong wind power “forest” at sunset.
Having lived in Saigon for many years, Ms. Nguyen Lien rarely had the opportunity to travel far, even wind turbines, she only knew about through pictures, television, and social networks. On the occasion of September 2nd, her relatives took her to Thien Nghiep to visit and pay respects to Thien Quang Pagoda. After that, she went to visit the Dai Phong wind power "forest" not far from Thien Quang Pagoda.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Lan, a local of Thien Nghiep commune, guided the tour group and shared: “Dai Phong wind power in Thien Nghiep (Phan Thiet) is not big, but must be located on the hill in Binh Thanh (Tuy Phong), which is considered the cradle of wind power in Vietnam. Hundreds of wind turbines are located next to National Highway 1, so anyone passing by Binh Thanh can stop and check-in with the giant blades…”.
Coming to Binh Thanh, tourists can also travel along the coastal route. To the west of the road is a forest of wind turbines, each pillar is so big that a person cannot hug it, and the blades of the wind turbines rotate steadily in the direction of the wind without getting tired. The most beautiful is when the sun goes down near the foot of the mountain, weaving through the afternoon clouds, making the light softer, the rays of sunlight penetrating through the white clouds, adding to the beauty and poetry of the Binh Thanh wind turbine forest.
Not only on the mainland but also on Phu Quy island, wind power projects are soon being invested in. If traveling by helicopter, looking down from above at the small island, we feel a captivating beauty, the bright white wind turbines stand out against the green background of the island. The wind turbines on the island are located next to residential areas, so it is easy to get close and see the wind turbines. In the Long Hai area, the wind turbines soar high in the blue sky, the pine forest sways at the foot of the turbines. The distance between the wind turbines is a small, winding stone-paved road along the coast, in the distance, waves occasionally crash into the rocks, creating white foam... We feel the natural picture here is so poetic and lyrical.
Binh Thuan, with its abundant natural conditions of sunshine and wind, is an advantage for developing clean energy. The "wind power forests" of Tuy Phong, Phan Thiet, Ham Thuan Nam or Phu Quy not only have economic significance and benefits, limiting environmental pollution, but are also considered tourism products, attracting tourists to admire, learn, and check-in attractively for young people.
Now in Binh Thuan, there are not only dense "forests" of "windmills" on land but also many offshore wind power projects. Currently, Binh Thuan has 22 wind power projects planned until 2030. In addition to the projects that have been put into operation and are under construction, there are 11 wind power projects being submitted to the competent authorities for consideration. Of these, there are 8 offshore wind power projects. The "wind power forests" on land or offshore are beautiful natural and man-made landscapes that are very attractive to tourists.
