Accidents from daily activities
Recently, a male patient born in 2011 in Dak Lak province was transferred from a lower-level hospital to Children's Hospital 2 (HCMC) due to electric shock.
KR, mother of patient KSYP, said that she and her friends in the neighborhood were flying kites and the kite got stuck on the roof. P. climbed up to the roof to get it and unfortunately got electrocuted in her left hand.
After being discovered, P. was taken to the local hospital by his family for emergency care and then transferred to Children's Hospital 2.

Children with accidents are treated at Children's Hospital 2.
Taking care of his daughter LHD (born in 2016) in the hospital because of burns from falling into a pot of boiling water, Mr. L.D.D. from Binh Duong province advised parents to pay close attention to their children, especially during the summer vacation.
Accordingly, at around 7:00 p.m. on May 31, D. and his friends were cycling near their home. Due to losing control of the steering wheel, D. fell into a pot of boiling water from a neighbor's house. The rare accident left him with severe burns from his shoulders to his buttocks.
In order to ensure the safety of children in the coming time, Dr. Vu Hiep Phat - Head of Emergency Department - Children's Hospital 2 informed that summer is the time when children often have accidents such as: burns (electricity, gasoline, chemicals, etc.), drowning, bee stings, snake bites, traffic accidents, falls, etc.
Cases of burns caused by boiling water and explosions are recorded to increase during the summer holidays. Burn injuries not only damage the skin, cause infection, prolong treatment time and even cause death.
In addition, accidents from electrical equipment, pets, inhalation of toxic substances, poisoning, bee stings, snake bites, falls, etc. also need special attention.
Raise awareness to ensure children's safety
“Moderate to severe burns in children can lead to complications such as burn shock, infection, gastrointestinal bleeding, burn wasting, withdrawal syndrome, and death. Complications of burns in children increase as the burned area increases and the depth of the burn increases,” Dr. Thuy emphasized.
Studies on burns to date show that burns are more common in boys than girls, with a mortality rate of 1-12%, highest in low-income countries. The main causes of burns are hot water and fire, with electrical burns being relatively rare.

Drowning accidents in young children often occur during the summer.
Regarding drowning accidents, Dr. Vu Hiep Phat, drowning accidents are often in places with many ponds, lakes, rivers, streams and even swimming pools. Depending on the time of drowning, it will directly affect the health and life of the child as well as leave serious brain sequelae later.
Doctors recommend that parents always be vigilant to ensure the safety of their children during the summer. Always keep an eye on your children's activities because danger can lurk at any time.
