Kite fields (Thu Thiem, Thu Duc City) are vacant project lands that have not been built yet and are used by people to fly kites. In the afternoons, this place attracts hundreds of people from all over to come here to enjoy the cool breeze and fly kites. Colorful kites of all sizes add to the picture of a dynamic city.
This has attracted the attention of many foreign tourists. However, when coming here to have fun, many tourists are disappointed to see the kite field covered in trash.
The kite field is full of trash!
A group of tourists came to the kite field at the foot of Ba Son Bridge (from District 1 to Thu Thiem). Both sides of the road were filled with garbage. Mr. Glee, a tourist from Australia, shared his disappointment: "My group stayed at a hotel right near Bach Dang Wharf Park. From the hotel room, I saw colorful kites flying in the sky, so I invited the whole group to walk across the bridge to have fun. But seeing this scene, I was not in the mood to play anymore."
Mr. Joseph and his wife (an American tourist) bought a small kite and practiced flying it. He shared: "I saw the locals, from young to old, holding a fishing line to fly kites. It was so interesting to see. My kite flying high in the wind made me feel like I was still a child. However, there was so much trash under my feet."

Kite flyers, cars, and street vendors all 'mingle' on the street
Kite fields are a place for recreation and entertainment for many people. However, safety and security are not guaranteed. Many people stand flying kites in the middle of the road, while traffic is busy. Many kite players tie fishing lines to tree branches on the side of the road. The wind can stretch the fishing lines, which can be a potential danger to vehicles. In addition, both sides of the road are crowded with street vendors busily offering their wares.
Many residents and tourists coming to Thu Thiem kite field are excited because there is an open, airy space to relax in the heart of the city. They hope that the kite field needs to be maintained and managed appropriately to preserve the urban beauty and cleanliness to attract more domestic and international tourists to such an interesting place.
