“A number of malicious websites and unofficial code are being distributed purporting to help organizations recover from CrowdStrike’s technical failures,” the ASD said on its website. The agency recommends that consumers only obtain technical information and updates from official CrowdStrike sources.

Cyber Security Minister Clare O'Neil urged Australians to be vigilant against scams and phishing attacks, not to visit fake websites, and not to provide personal and bank account information.

In Australia, a Microsoft cloud service outage on July 19 affected the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, the country’s largest bank, leaving many customers unable to transfer money. National airline Qantas and Sydney Airport said many flights were delayed.
