(NLDO) - The situation of creating fake fanpages and fake invoices from travel companies to sell tours, airline tickets, and hotels increases near Tet.
The 2025 Lunar New Year holiday lasts 9 days, the demand for package tours and self-sufficient services such as air tickets, hotels, etc. increases.
Mr. Tran Thanh Vu, General Director of Vinagroup Tourism Company, said that there are currently many individuals impersonating officials and employees of businesses to sell low-priced products, special promotions, especially airline tickets or package tours. Then, they ask customers to transfer money to the seller's personal account, leading to many people being scammed.
"Customers booked the service but when they got to the airport they found out the ticket was fake and the booking code could not be checked in. Some cases of selling cheap hotel rooms during Tet were actually scams, and customers contacted the hotel only to find out it had not been confirmed," Mr. Vu cited.

According to travel companies, a common form of fraud during Tet is offering tours, service combos at cheap prices, airline tickets or room reservations with fake codes (booking codes)...
Ms. Tran Phuong Linh, Director of Information Technology Marketing - BenThanh Tourist Company, said that to avoid being scammed when booking tours and airline ticket services during Tet, customers should be careful and carefully check information when booking services online.
Up to now, many customers have booked services on websites/social media accounts impersonating major travel brands, with poor service quality or no service on the departure date...
Many travel companies said that there are cases of scammers using tricks to create fake fanpages and fake invoices.
PYS Travel Company received some feedback from customers when encountering cases of fraud and scams with similar procedures.
"We constantly update, promote and notify on the company's official channels to warn customers to avoid fraud. The company also guides customers on how to identify, check and distinguish impersonation cases; and guides on safe payment methods" - Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Hien, Deputy Director of PYS Travel, said.
