(NLDO) - Unable to find the owner of the restaurant accused of "overcharging" during the day, the interdisciplinary inspection team of Nha Trang City People's Committee came to inspect on the evening of February 6.
Accordingly, at around 7:30 p.m. on February 6, an interdisciplinary inspection team of the Nha Trang City People's Committee (Khanh Hoa Province) came to work at Aroma Beach restaurant (Nguyen Thien Thuat Street, Tan Tien Ward, Nha Trang City).
The reason they had to work at night was because earlier, on the afternoon of February 5, an interdisciplinary working group from Nha Trang City had come to this restaurant but all the signs had been removed and the restaurant was closed.
The interdisciplinary inspection team knocked on the door several times and tried to contact Mr. Ho Van Tam, the restaurant owner, but was unsuccessful. The team made a record at the scene, noting that the restaurant owner was not cooperating.
To ensure security and order, Tan Tien Ward Police were also mobilized to the scene.
Here, the delegation checked the menu, computer and documents related to the restaurant's business activities.
At the same time, the authorities asked Mr. Ho Van Tam to extract and hand over the camera footage recording the moment the Chinese group came to dine at this restaurant.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Anh Minh - Head of Finance and Planning Department, Nha Trang City People's Committee - as head of the inspection team, asked the reporter to go outside.
At the time of inspection, Mr. Tam only presented the business registration certificate of Dai Phat Tam Nha Trang Company Limited (address at 38 Nguyen Thien Thuat, Nha Trang) of which he is the director; some licenses related to the food service business were missing.
In addition, Aroma Beach restaurant also has incorrect signs, billboards, and unclear price listings that can easily confuse customers.
Previously, the incident of "ripping off" Chinese tourists caused a stir on social networks because of the prices of dishes such as: grilled eggplant with scallion oil for 1,890,000 VND/portion; stir-fried water spinach with garlic for 500,000 VND/plate; white rice for 250,000 VND/portion; soft drinks for 100,000 VND/bottle...
The bill for all dishes was 15,724,000 VND, "Tet surcharge" was 4,717,200 VND, the total amount the customer paid was 20,441,200 VND...
Regarding this restaurant, previously, a Korean tourist also rated 1 star because the bill dated August 19, 2024, showed that a bowl of beef pho cost 325,000 VND, Saigon beer and soft drink cost 65,000 VND/can...
Mr. Nguyen Tan Tuan, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, said that he has directed the tourism industry to coordinate with local authorities to seriously and strictly handle the above incident.
Any violations will be strictly handled to maintain the image of local tourism. The Aroma Beach restaurant being accused of "ripping off" customers is just a small number, not representative of the majority of tourism businesses in Nha Trang.
