Tam's 18+ scene in the movie "Cam" causes controversy

In the movie "Cam", the scene where the character Tam (Rima Thanh Vy) reveals part of her body is considered bold and surprising.

The movie "Cam" has held the top spot at the Vietnamese box office since its release. According to statistics from Box Office Vietnam, the revenue of "Cam" exceeded 51 billion VND as of noon on September 23, after 3 days in theaters.

One of the elements that was hotly discussed on forums was the scene where Tam (played by Rima Thanh Vy) bathed in a lotus pond, stood up and revealed her blood-stained body.

Tam's semi-nude scene clearly depicts the character's emotional transformation, from a gentle girl to an evil, bloodthirsty spirit.

However, many controversial opinions say that Tam's sensitive scene is unnecessary, because Tam had her soul taken, killed her sister, let her stepmother eat Cam, killed the palace maids...

The character's psychological development has completely changed from before, shown through Tam's appearance, actions, and attitude when her soul is possessed by the devil.

In the scene where Tam reveals part of her body, the film's plot is pushed to its climax, when Tam sinks into a lotus pond with hatred and a thousand-year curse.

It seemed that the devil inside Tam would rise up, reach its peak and continue to take revenge, but just a few minutes later, Tam put her clothes back on and went ashore to dance.

In some scenes, Rima Thanh Vy's acting also caused controversy. For example, the scene where Tam screamed in terror, fought against the devil or disobeyed her father to protect Cam... was commented to lack weight.

The fact that Tam's character is dubbed also affects the way she conveys emotions to the audience. Tam is completely passive in everything, and has a confusing action when she throws away the "chicken head" ring, the only thing that helps her fight against evil.

"Cam" is described as a horror version of the fairy tale Tam Cam, which is familiar to many generations of audiences. The film's content still revolves around two sisters Cam (played by Lam Thanh My) and Tam (Rima Thanh Vy).

In this film version, Cam was born with an ugly face and was rejected by her family and villagers. Meanwhile, Tam is a kind girl, always comforting and protecting her younger sister. The incident that completely changes the lives of Tam and Cam occurs when Bach Lao (Meritorious Artist Hanh Thuy) - a supernatural evil force appears, causing horrifying deaths in the village.

Rima Thanh Vy was born in 1995, and appeared in the movies "Ten: The Curse Returns" and "Thanh Soi". She started out as a model and gained attention when she participated in Asia's Next Top Model 2018.
