On April 1, Israel attacked a building next to the Iranian embassy in the capital Damascus. After investigating the scene, the Syrian Ministry of Defense announced that Israel had carried out the attack on the Iranian diplomatic facility.
Regarding Iran's retaliatory attack, US television channel CNN reported that Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian emphasized that the retaliation against Israel was intended to prove that Tehran has enough means to respond to any provocation.
The main goal of the retaliation was to send a clear message to the Israeli government. Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian asserted that the attacks on April 13 and 14 were “limited in nature and did not cross the threshold of tolerance.”
“I will repeat once again: We oppose the increase of chaos, war and tension in the region,” Mr. Hossein Amir Abdollahian declared.
The international community is continuously calling on all parties to exercise restraint and avoid escalating tensions in the Middle East region.
