According to Aviation A2Z, the airports on this list all recorded impressive growth in January 2025. The top 10 fastest growing airports in Southeast Asia are: Bangkok Suvarnabhumi (BKK, Thailand); Kuala Lumpur (KUL, Malaysia); Changi Singapore (SIN, Singapore); Bangkok Don Mueang (DMK, Thailand); Phuket (HKT, Thailand); Phu Quoc (PQC, Vietnam); Noi Bai (HAN, Hanoi, Vietnam); Soekarno-Hatta (CGK, Jakarta, Indonesia); Denpasar-Bali (DPS, Indonesia; and Tan Son Nhat (SGN, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam).
Phu Quoc in particular stands out with an astonishing growth of 185.2%, equivalent to more than 108,000 additional seats. This figure far exceeds the average growth rate of airports in the region, which is only 10-16%.
Director of Kien Giang Province Department of Tourism Bui Quoc Thai said that Phu Quoc's high growth rate reflects the increasing attraction of the pearl island to international tourists. This success is also thanks to Vietnam's visa exemption policy and international honors such as the second most beautiful island in the world after Maldives voted by Travel + Leisure (USA), or the top 25 destinations in the world in 2025 voted by CNA (Singapore).
Phu Quoc currently attracts tourists from more than 150 countries and territories. In addition to direct flights from Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, and Taiwan, this pearl island also welcomes a series of charter flights from countries such as India, Russia, Japan, Singapore, Greece, the UAE, and Eastern European and Central Asian countries.
In January 2025, Phu Quoc welcomed nearly 612,000 visitors, including nearly 125,000 international visitors. Total tourism revenue in the month reached VND 2,544 billion, marking the strong development of the local tourism industry.
