The two provinces with the largest number of international students in Canada, Ontario and British Columbia, have recently announced some drastic measures to curb overcrowding after the government announced restrictions on foreign students for the next two years.
Accordingly, the British Columbia provincial government will not approve the establishment of new private educational institutions for international student enrollment for the next two years.
Previously, Ontario had also announced measures such as closely monitoring the admissions process, requiring institutions to ensure accommodation for international students, and strengthening inspections of private post-secondary educational institutions. In addition, it banned partnerships and collaborations between private and public colleges to prevent the abuse of public school enrollment licenses.
