Accordingly, in the first 3 months of the year, about 300 cases of measles were recorded (not including the number of children in neighboring provinces examined and treated at Can Tho Children's Hospital).
The highest number of measles cases are in Vinh Thanh, Thoi Lai, O Mon and Thot Not districts.
According to statistics, about 90% of cases have not been vaccinated or have an unknown history of measles vaccination, the remaining 10% have been vaccinated against measles.
In this situation, in order to continue to increase the rate of measles immunity in the community and proactively prevent measles epidemics, Can Tho City Department of Health is implementing the third measles vaccination campaign in 2025.
The campaign is divided into 2 phases, phase 1 takes place from April 28 to 29; phase 2 before May 15 (based on the results of phase 1 implementation and the results of determining risk areas).
The vaccination subjects are children from 6 months to under 9 months old, including transient children currently in the locality who have not been vaccinated in the 2025 vaccination campaign.
In particular, the age group from 11 to 15 years old in high-risk and very high-risk communes/wards who have not been vaccinated, have not received enough doses of measles-containing vaccine, and children with unknown vaccination history, unknown history of measles, and wish to be vaccinated, will also be vaccinated in this phase.
The campaign is organized at qualified vaccination facilities, health stations, and schools depending on local conditions. Children who have postponed vaccination will be vaccinated at the end of each period, or vaccinated in the expanded immunization program.
