Before raising grouper, Mr. Duoc used to raise lobsters, but because the farming location is in the sea area of ​​Sa Huynh anchorage port, the risk from this model is quite large.

Mr. Do Van Duoc, a farmer successfully raises grouper in cages in the Sa Huynh sea area, Pho Thanh ward, Duc Pho town, Quang Ngai province with an average annual profit of 1 billion VND. Mr. Do Van Duoc is one of 63 outstanding Vietnamese farmers in 2024.

Therefore, Mr. Do Van Duoc researched and decided to invest in raising grouper, because this is a suitable aquaculture species for the Sa Huynh sea area. The consumption market for grouper is also wider and more favorable than lobster, which depends heavily on informal exports.

At first, Mr. Duoc only raised 2 cages of grouper, and now he has been involved in raising this specialty fish for 10 years.

Currently, Mr. Duoc's grouper cages have increased to 40, of which 15 are for raising fry; 25 are for commercial farming/25,000 fish.

Revenue and profit from grouper farming of Mr. Do Van Duoc's family have been maintained and grown sustainably over the years.

Just counting the number of cages and the amount of fish raised for commercial purposes mentioned above, Mr. Duoc has become one of the largest grouper farmers in Quang Ngai.

According to Mr. Do Van Duoc, grouper is a fish species with great potential for development in the Sa Huynh sea area. However, his family has no plans to expand or raise the scale of farming to a higher level than it is now. The reason is that the current aquaculture area in the Sa Huynh sea that he and other households are implementing is only "temporary".

Mr. Do Van Duoc hopes that the authorities in Quang Ngai province will plan a stable and long-term aquaculture area so that he and other aquaculture households can confidently invest in expanding the scale, improving the quality and diversifying the farming objects.
