The project is expected to use more than 187.8 hectares; with the total cost of compensation and site clearance for the section through Hai Duong being about more than 3,893 billion VND.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hai Duong, to implement the project, many agricultural and rural development works in the area will be affected.
Regarding the dike works, the railway intersects 3 dike lines including: Van Uc right dike in Vinh Cuong commune (Thanh Ha); Thai Binh left and right dikes in Chi Minh commune (Tu Ky) and Thanh Hong commune (Thanh Ha). Regarding the irrigation works managed and exploited by Bac Hung Hai Irrigation Works Exploitation One Member Co., Ltd., the railway intersects 2 canals of Kim Son and Dinh Dao in Phuc Dien commune (Cam Giang); Vinh Hung, Long Xuyen (Binh Giang); Yet Kieu (Gia Loc) and about 29 irrigation works including pumping stations, irrigation canals, etc.
The route affects 90 other irrigation works in Gia Loc, Cam Giang, Tu Ky, Binh Giang districts and 45 aquaculture works, 8 intra-field roads in Gia Loc district. According to the authorities of Hai Duong province, the total cost of relocation and restoration (tentatively estimated) is about 300 billion VND. For works across dykes and canals, only restoration and reinforcement of slopes, dykes and canals are calculated, not bridge construction.
Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway project, with a total capital of over 200,000 billion VND. The project starts at the cross-border rail connection point (Lao Cai province), ends at Lach Huyen station (Hai Phong), nearly 391 km long; branch line length 27.9 km, passing through 9 provinces and cities including Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Hung Yen, Hai Duong and Hai Phong.
The railway line is newly invested with a single track, 1.435 m gauge, for general passenger and cargo transportation; designed speed of 160 km/h for the main line from the new Lao Cai station to Nam Hai Phong station; 120 km/h for the section through the hub area of Hanoi city; speed of 80 km/h for the remaining sections.
Preliminary total land use demand is about 2,632 hectares, resettled population is more than 19,000 people.
