Need to guide and orient students to use social networks safely

(DN) - On August 11, at Dong Nai University, the Vietnam Association of Educational Psychology organized a national scientific conference with the theme: "The impact of social networks on students today, current situation and solutions".

Attending the workshop were Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Quang Minh Cuong province; Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council Hoang Thi Bich Hang. Comrade Nguyen Hong Linh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee sent a congratulatory flower basket to the workshop.

This is the first national conference organized by the Vietnam Association of Educational Psychology in Dong Nai, attracting over 400 delegates, including many leading psychologists from across the country.

The Organizing Committee of the conference received hundreds of papers from scientists, of which 150 papers were selected, collected and printed in the conference proceedings. The papers not only clarified the positive and negative impacts of social networks on students but also provided many solutions to limit the negative effects from many different perspectives.

Speaking at the workshop, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, Quan Minh Cuong, said that the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province are very interested in social issues, including the topic of this workshop.

Comrade Quan Minh Cuong emphasized that social networks are places to search, exchange, and share information, knowledge, and human emotions, which are very helpful in life. It is undeniable that social networks are useful to people and life, however, social networks are a vast world without distance and complexity. Therefore, users, including students, must be extremely alert to bad, toxic, and distorted information spread by hostile forces that take advantage of social networks to divide national unity and deliberately defame the reputation of the Party and the country's leaders.

In order for students to use social networks safely, comrade Quan Minh Cuong said that there must be supervision from parents, and for students, there must be guidance from the school and organizations such as the Youth Union, Student Association, etc.

The Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee suggested that good ideas and solutions presented at the workshop should be selected and widely disseminated to raise awareness in the whole society in using social networks safely. Through social networks, it is necessary to raise awareness for students to be vigilant against bad, toxic and distorted information from hostile forces, but it is also necessary to promote to help students understand more deeply the national traditions and good examples of good people and good deeds for them to learn and follow.
