At 4:00 a.m. on October 2, hundreds of officers and soldiers of Air Force Regiment 927 and Air Force Regiment 916 (Division 371, Air Defense - Air Force Service) were diligently preparing aircraft to be ready to carry out missions in the Hanoi City Defense Area exercise in 2024 (HN-24).
This exercise involved coordination between military branches and arms with many forms of combat, using many types of weapons, equipment, and modern techniques manufactured and improved by the Army.
Air Force Regiment 927 (Division 371) participated in a bombing exercise with SU-30MK2 "king cobra" fighter jets.
After completing the aircraft inspection, the technical teams installed the bombs on the racks, ready for the pilots and flight crew to take off and perform their missions.
At the aircraft preparation area of Regiment 916 (Division 371), the technical team and pilots also thoroughly checked the helicopters before performing the mission.
The rockets were quickly loaded by the technical team into the launchers on the military helicopter's pylons.
Two military helicopters received orders to take off and quickly approached the target at the National Shooting Range, Region 1 (TB1).
Two helicopters launched rockets from both sides of the mount to destroy the ground target, successfully completing the assigned mission.
Captain Vuong Dinh Long - Squadron Leader of Squadron 1 (Regiment 916) said that the process of moving the two helicopters from the airport to the shooting range required them to avoid and weave through mountainous terrain to ensure tactics. At the same time, the two flight crews needed to coordinate smoothly to attack and destroy the target as quickly and effectively as possible.
Next, a squadron of two SU-30MK2 fighters took off to drop bombs and attack ground targets.
After a successful dive and bomb attack on a ground target, the pilot fired chaff to avoid enemy anti-aircraft fire.
Major Bui Van Lap, Political Commissar of Squadron 1 (Air Force Regiment 927) said that the changing weather conditions had a significant impact on the pilots' performance of their missions. However, the unit had carefully calculated the flight path, features, and tactics of each weapon to successfully complete the mission.
The live-fire drill of the units took place as planned, ensuring absolute safety of people and technical equipment.
