The 8-storey mini apartment building in Ha Dinh ward, Thanh Xuan district, Hanoi city has been reinforced with an iron scaffolding system supporting the base of the degraded house columns.

Mini apartment building No. 22B, Lane 236, Khuong Dinh, Ha Dinh Ward, Thanh Xuan District, Hanoi City is 8 floors high, each floor has about 7 apartments. The first floor is used as a parking lot, with elevators and stairs to the upper floors. All apartments have been sold by the investor to households and put into use since 2017.

Residents here said that cracks have appeared in this mini apartment for more than ten days. Accordingly, the first floor columns have many cracks running horizontally and vertically from the base of the columns to the ceiling.

To support the building, the authorities reinforced the iron scaffolding system around the base of the degraded pillars.

Outside the scaffolding, authorities stretched out a rope to warn of "no entry area".

Local residents said that over time, some parts of the building have deteriorated, especially the columns under the parking lot.

Faced with this situation, the authorities and investors have requested all households living in the apartment building to evacuate.

Up to now, all households here have been evacuated from the building.

Residents have to rent other houses to stay temporarily while waiting for repairs. "I hope the repair of the degraded part of the mini apartment building will be completed soon so that the residents here can return to their daily lives and not have to rent a house" - a resident living on the 6th floor said

According to Thanh Xuan District Party Secretary Bui Huyen Mai, after receiving information about the incident at the building, the district assigned relevant units to check the damage and asked all residents to evacuate to ensure safety.

"The district supervises the relocation process as well as the construction repair to ensure the highest security and safety for the people" - Thanh Xuan District Secretary informed
