On April 8, a delegation of the Central Military Commission led by General Phan Van Giang - Politburo member and Minister of National Defense, offered incense to commemorate the Hung Kings and attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony to inaugurate the relief "Uncle Ho talking to officers and soldiers of the Vanguard Army Corps" at the Hung Temple National Special Historical Relic Site in Phu Tho province.
Leaders of the Ministry of National Defense and leaders of Phu Tho province cut the ribbon to inaugurate the relief "Uncle Ho talking to officers and soldiers of the Vanguard Army Corps" at the Den Gieng 5-way intersection. The project was built by the Central Military Commission (Ministry of National Defense); construction started on June 15, 2023 with a total investment of 50.49 billion VND.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, General Phan Van Giang - Minister of National Defense highly appreciated the sense of responsibility, proactiveness, positivity, enthusiasm and thoughtfulness of Phu Tho province and related agencies and units in the process of implementing construction, completing and putting the project into use on the occasion of Hung Kings' death anniversary - Hung Temple Festival in 2024.
At the same time, the Minister of National Defense also reviewed the origin of the bas-relief. Accordingly, on September 19, 1954, before returning to take over the capital, Uncle Ho stopped at Hung Temple and talked with the officers and soldiers of the Vanguard Army Corps. In 2001, the Hung Temple Historical Relic Site received a donation from the Ministry of National Defense to build a bas-relief at the Gieng Temple Intersection. After 20 years, due to the influence of nature and weather, the bas-relief was no longer suitable for the landscape of the area, affecting the quality of the art. The current reconstruction of the bas-relief aims to complete it to be worthy of being a special national historical relic site.
The newly built relief complex covers an area of thousands of square meters, with a system of yards, gardens, lighting, flower beds, trees, steps, a concrete and stone-paved yard like a large stage, capable of hosting many outdoor events. On both sides of the relief, 18 stainless steel flagpoles 12 meters high are installed.
The relief was designed and built in an arc shape with a length of 28.16m; a height of 10.99m; and a 30cm thick wall connected to a stainless steel hanging system to install the bronze alloy relief art. The relief depicts Uncle Ho's conversation with the Vanguard Army in 1954 at the Gieng Temple.
The relief is an important highlight in the journey of the sacred destinations of Hung Temple, creating synchronization with the architectural works and the space, the majestic and sacred landscape of the Relic Site, converging historical and cultural values from the Hung King era to the Ho Chi Minh era.
"The Hung Kings built the country, we must work together to protect the country" - Uncle Ho's immortal words instructing the Vanguard Army are engraved in prominent gold on a red bronze relief.
Palm forest and tea hills typical of the Phu Tho midland region on the relief.
Not only is it a highlight welcoming millions of tourists, every year at this location, leaders of the Party, State, government, and people of localities solemnly perform flower offering ceremonies to pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh and heroes, martyrs, and other activities serving the Hung Temple Festival.
These days, the relief area always attracts the attention, stops to visit and check-in of many tourists coming to Hung Temple festival.
